Gua sha gets a lot of attention on social media — but its clinical roots go back thousands of years, and the science behind why it works is genuinely fascinating. ✨

By applying controlled scraping strokes to specific areas of tension, gua sha stimulates circulation, breaks up fascial adhesions, and triggers an anti-inflammatory response that can provide relief well beyond the session. It’s especially effective for chronic neck and shoulder tension, respiratory support, and areas where compression or guarding has built up over time.

At Inner Wisdom, gua sha is used as a clinical tool — selected and applied based on your specific presentation, not as a standalone wellness add-on. Book at innerwisdomacu.com or call (608) 709-1119.

ST36 — Zusanli — is one of the most well-known and well-researched acupuncture points in Traditional Chinese Medicine. 🌟

Located just below the knee on the Stomach meridian, it has been used for centuries to strengthen Spleen and Stomach function (digestion), tonify Qi and blood (energy and immune resilience), and regulate the body’s overall vitality. Modern research has explored its effects on immune modulation, anti-inflammatory pathways, and gastrointestinal motility — and the findings are consistently supportive of what classical practitioners observed long before laboratory measurement existed.

This is one of many points we may use in your treatment, tailored to what your body specifically needs. Curious? We love these conversations. Visit innerwisdomacu.com.

Most people come to us after trying everything else — and what surprises them most is how thoroughly we listen before we treat. 🌎

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, a symptom is never the whole story. Lower back pain might trace back to a Kidney deficiency. Chronic bloating might involve the Liver overacting on the Stomach. Persistent insomnia might be a Heart and Kidney communication issue. The symptom points us in a direction — the pattern tells us where to go.

This is why treating the root in TCM produces results that last, rather than relief that fades. If you’ve been managing symptoms for years, it may be time to have a different conversation. Start at innerwisdomacu.com.

Living with an autoimmune condition means navigating a body that’s working against itself — and finding care that understands that complexity is everything. 🌿

Traditional Chinese Medicine doesn’t treat autoimmune conditions with a one-size-fits-all protocol. Instead, we assess the specific pattern of imbalance: Where is the inflammation concentrated? Is there underlying deficiency? How is the nervous system involved? From there, acupuncture and herbal medicine are used together to calm excess activity, nourish depleted systems, and support the body’s ability to regulate itself more effectively over time.

This is care that takes the full picture seriously. We’d love to be part of your support team. Book at innerwisdomacu.com or call (608) 709-1119.

Some of the herbs we use most often for digestive support aren’t exotic — they’re in your kitchen. 🌱

Ginger warms the Stomach and disperses cold, reducing nausea and sluggish digestion. Peppermint moves Liver Qi stagnation and relieves bloating and cramping. Licorice root harmonizes the whole digestive system and soothes inflammation. In a clinical Chinese herbal formula, these and other herbs are combined precisely to match your specific pattern — meaning your formula is not generic, but tailored to exactly what your system needs.

Herbal medicine works best alongside acupuncture as part of a complete treatment plan. Ask us about both at your next visit — innerwisdomacu.com.

Menopause is a natural transition, but that doesn't mean it has to be this uncomfortable. 🌙

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, menopausal symptoms like hot flashes, night sweats, sleep disruption, and mood changes are understood as expressions of Kidney Yin deficiency, which affects the body's ability to cool and regulate itself. Rather than masking these symptoms, we work to nourish the root: replenishing Kidney Yin, calming the Liver, and clearing excess heat, so that symptoms reduce gradually and sustainably.

Many patients are surprised by how much better they feel within just a few treatments. Book at innerwisdomacu.com or call (608) 709-1119.

Yin and yang are more than a symbol — they’re a clinical lens through which TCM practitioners assess every patient. ⚖️

Yin represents cooling, nourishing, and restoring — the fluids, tissues, and rest that sustain us.

Yang represents warmth, movement, and activation — the energy that drives function and metabolism.

When these forces fall out of balance, specific patterns emerge: heat signs, cold signs, deficiency, excess. Identifying which pattern is present is what allows us to treat the root cause rather than just suppress symptoms.

This is why two patients with the same diagnosis can receive very different treatments at Inner Wisdom — because it’s never just the diagnosis that matters.

Post-surgical recovery is one of the most overlooked opportunities for integrative care — and one where it can make the biggest difference. 🌟

At Inner Wisdom, we support patients recovering from surgery by addressing the things conventional rehab doesn’t always cover: reducing inflammation and swelling, restoring energy and blood that was depleted during the procedure, improving range of motion, and preventing excessive scar tissue formation. Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine work alongside your surgical team’s plan — not instead of it.

If you or someone you know is preparing for or recovering from surgery, we’d love to help. Book at innerwisdomacu.com or call (608) 709-1119.

If you’re bloating after most meals, your body is communicating — not just being inconvenient. 🌸

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, post-meal bloating often indicates Spleen Qi deficiency or Liver overacting on the Stomach — patterns that affect your body’s ability to transform and transport what you eat. Rather than managing symptoms with antacids or restrictions, we work to identify the pattern driving the discomfort and restore digestive function from the inside out.

You shouldn't have to think twice about eating. Book at innerwisdomacu.com or call (608) 709-1119.
