I swear there is a kid under there!

Another day of nothing. X-ray from last night didn’t show any abnormalities. She needs to get up and move more, but with zero ANC, she can’t really leave the room. WBC went down from 50 to 40. They took her fluids off, so she’s just getting 10ml per hour to keep the line open. Her hemoglobin dropped again, so she’ll definitely need a transfusion tomorrow.

We’re now over 3 weeks in, and getting super discouraged that the finish line is no where in site. 🩷

She finally got her last chemo!!

We woke up to her bilirubin being down to 1.7, but she also woke up with lots of back pain. Still can’t figure that out. Waiting to go downstairs for another x-ray. Today was needle change day (shout out to Sophia)!! She got to be free for almost 2 hours. Her 2hr chemo drip went smooth with no complications.

Her ANC is still at zero, and she will likely need platelets in the next day or 2. Her WBC count went from 30 to 50 (once it reaches 100, they can calculate her ANC). Really hoping this is an upward trend, and we can be home by the weekend. 🩷

Rinse and Repeat!

I should have just copied/pasted yesterday’s update. Numbers are exactly the same! Still no ANC and bilirubin stayed above 2. The word “discharge” was spoken today, but only to say that she needs to show an upward trend of her ANC before they will consider it.

We were told this weekend that the transplant team is requesting 2, 29 days of chemo. So we will be repeating this all over again. We were also told she would be doing this outpatient, but we’ve spent all of these 29 days inpatient except for the 2 days we were home. I was assured that outpatient would be set up before we would start the next round.

Today was another day of hanging out, napping and watching Stranger Things for the 100th time. 🩷

Not much to report really.

Addy’s direct bilirubin dropped to 1.6, so we were expecting to get CalPeg today, but (curveball) her total bilirubin is 2.3. Need that to drop below 2 to receive it. She had a lot of stomach and back pain last night. X-ray, urine testing and Tylenol were given. She went to sleep relatively early for her. Woke up crying that her back hurt again, so more Tylenol, and she laid in my bed for most of the day. She’s just uncomfortable!

ANC is still zero and there’s absolutely nothing we can do about it unfortunately. She asks when can she go home frequently. Not having an answer for her breaks my heart! She did chat with her friend for a little while. But then got emotional when she got off the call. She misses her friends, and worries they are going to forget about her (dagger to this momma heart right there). Now we’re just hanging out as per usual. 🩷

I’m ready to get off this rollercoaster!!

At the very end of Addy’s 2nd blood transfusion yesterday, as she was sitting by the window getting some sun (she’s still slightly yellow), she temped at exactly 100.4 😩 bring on all the cultures!! Peripheral, port, urine, nasal swab and an x-ray. The kicker, within minutes her temp went down on its own without medication, but we still had to do all the things. So far, everything looks great and she hasn’t spiked again.

Maybe this could mean her ANC is starting so return, as count recovery could cause inflammation and bring on a fever. I hope that’s the case, because at this point, it’s all we’re waiting for to go home. She cries every time they leave the room, because there’s no timeframe and she’s getting antsy. She just wants to go home. Please pray that her ANC comes up! She’s been at zero for 2 weeks now (minus the one day it came up to 40, then back to zero). 🩷

Nothing really going on over here.

Addy woke up with a headache. We were told it’s likely because her blood and platelets were low. There was only one bag of platelets in the hospital this morning and she needs 2. They’re hopeful another will arrive tonight from local hospital. She’s currently receiving 1 of 2 bags of blood now. ANC is still zero and her bilirubin dropped to 2.6.

We’ve just been hanging out today. Addy is getting increasingly bored and is anxious to go home. Really praying that happens soon! 🩷

An uneventful day was had!

Nothing much to report today. Her bilirubin number increased again over night. This is likely due to the chemo she received yesterday. We’re still waiting for it to drop below 2, so she can receive the most important chemo med CalPeg. ANC still at zero, and both hemoglobin and platelets have decreased. We’re expecting transfusions before we’re discharged.

She was taken off TPN today and is now on regular fluids. She’s still eating great and sleeping through the night. Now we’re just hanging out watching the NBA finals (well I am and she’s on her iPad). 🩷

Not an Addy Update, but look who got almost 8hrs of sleep last night 🙋🏻‍♀️ 🙌🏻 have a great Wednesday everyone!

Running on 3hrs of sleep, so I’ll keep it short and sweet.

Ultrasound showed no change from her previous. We’re chalking up the cause of her stomach pain, to her system starting to breakdown food again. The spicy queso probably didn’t help! She was only NPO until around lunchtime, now back to a regular diet, minus spicy foods.

Her bilirubin dropped from 3.1 to 2.7. We are so close to where she needs to be to receive her last chemo for this round. Her hemoglobin and platelets both dropped and her ANC is back to zero. She will definitely be here until her last dose of antibiotics on Friday. Hopefully, her bilirubin will drop to 2 or lower, so she can get her chemo before then.

We switched rooms today! Lots more space and more windows. She had her needle change (thanks Alex), and she got a real shower. Addy has been binge watching Stranger Things, and eating whatever her heart desires. I’ve been her personal DoorDash driver today. Ready for a restful and UNEVENTFUL night tonight! 🩷

Nothing like waking up at 2am from your child crying in pain.

After I went to sleep, Addy stayed up playing her game and she was fine. At some point, that changed. She tried to wait as long as she could before waking me up, until she couldn’t take the pain anymore. Her stomach pain was 10/10!

Pain meds given, an x-ray and ultrasound were done, and she’s now comfortably sleeping. We’re back on NPO, just when she’s starting to get her appetite back. I’ll update once we get results, and hopefully it’s after I can get some sleep. 🩷
