Cancelation policies are not meant to be unkind or to take your money. They are in place to be sure everyone is treated equally and fairly. My cancelation policy is clearly stated on my website, on your first visit paperwork, and on every single appointment booked with me, every single time.
Appointments are not confirmed unless the client booking agrees to the policy and confirms that they agree by holding their appointment with a valid credit card. Yet, I still encounter angry clients seemingly shocked when the policy is enforced. Please, do not book an appointment if you are hoping that the policy will not apply to you. I enforce it across the board to sustain my livelihood. I have been very forgiving and generous with waiving the fee in the past and quite frankly, I can't afford to do so any longer.
As a small business that works on an appointment only status, if a client cancels last minute, I don't get paid. More often than not, I also can't fill the spot in less than 24 hours. If I don't get paid, I can't pay my bills. For both my business and my personal bills. I am not a big corporation. I don't have a set salary. If you went to work and were told a meeting got canceled or that your students aren't coming in because they are sick, you would absolutely expect to still get paid. When you're employed, you are paid despite unforseen circumstances. Unfortunately, small business owners don't have that guarantee.
I understand that life happens. People get sick, something comes up and you can't make it, etc. I get it. However, if you were sick and missed your flight or forgot to attend a show you bought tickets for, you wouldn't ask for a refund. Getting upset with me for enforcing policies that are agreed upon when booking is disheartening. My time and my skill are valuable. Protecting my business with integrity is my priority. While I am very kind and understanding, I cannot absorb the costs of unforseen circumstances.
I wanted to post this reminder for obvious reasons. If you don't want to risk being charged, please be sure to cancel BEFORE the 24 hour mark. Thank you for respecting my time and my business. ❤️
