With a new month and Summer on the way I am starting a new 8 week program that will include a slight caloric deficit change in my nutrition. A lot of times my first meal of the day is a sandwich of either turkey or eggs. Today was 4 slices of low sodium turkey bread, half of an avocado, 1.5 ounces of parmesan cheese, pico de gallo, pickles. Yes, I eat Keto bread and Quest chips. I do try to limit processed foods but I am also on a budget so I am going to finish the foods that I currently have in the fridge and pantry. In order to reach my protein goal for today, the chips worked out better than me stressing about it.
I have my grocery list and will be tracking by the gram and on my food scale next week. Being rigid won’t help my progress but being consistent will. Monday is one of my busiest days so I know I need the calories. Being mindful will again be beneficial for my progress.
So, with 50 grams of protein to start my first meal that also included 15 grams of fiber for a total of 450 calories. That will keep me going for about 4 hours +.

My Journey: Healing Through Yoga and Strength Training

My passion for teaching yoga, strength training, breathwork, and wellness comes from lived experience.

After surviving a ruptured arteriovenous malformation (AVM) in my brain and a stroke, I faced challenges that affected far more than my physical body. Recovery required rebuilding strength, balance, confidence, focus, and trust in myself. It was a journey that tested me mentally, emotionally, and physically.

Years later, I found myself navigating another season of change: midlife, menopause, and the profound traumatic emotional stress of divorce. Once again, I turned to movement as a tool for healing.

Yoga taught me how to reconnect with my body when it felt unfamiliar. Breathwork helped calm my nervous system during periods of stress, uncertainty, and overwhelm. Strength training helped me rebuild physical power while reminding me of my resilience. Every workout, every yoga practice, and every intentional breath became an opportunity to strengthen not only my body, but also my mind.

Through these experiences, I learned that movement is about much more than fitness. It can improve focus, support cognitive function, reduce stress, enhance mood, and help us navigate life’s most difficult transitions with greater strength and grace. I experienced firsthand how regular movement can support brain health, emotional well-being, and a renewed sense of purpose.

Today, my mission is to help others discover their own strength—whether they are recovering from injury, navigating menopause, managing stress, rebuilding after loss, or simply seeking a healthier, more vibrant life.

I don’t teach from a textbook alone. I teach from experience. I know what it feels like to start over, to face adversity, and to rebuild. My goal is to create a supportive environment where every person can move, heal, grow, and thrive at their own pace.

Recovery taught me resilience. Movement helped me reclaim my life. Now I help others do the same. 💙
