There is often so much violence and darkness in the world that it is important to take a step back, get some perspective and look to the light. Look to the helpers. And look to the reason we are all here: to love one another. Medicine for Humanity exists to heal women and train doctors, and in turn to uplift those communities which our patients come from. We are grateful for your support and friendship, and we wish you peace and above all, love, during these somewhat turbulent times.

“Motherhood is Love in its purest form.” Revathi Sankaran

Medicine for Humanity‘s entire foundation is built upon our love and support of Mothers. They are the reason we do what we do, and they are so deserving of all of the love, respect, support and gratitude. Thank you for your support of our organization, which enables us to restore health and dignity to Mothers in Uganda. Thank you to all of the Mothers who trust us enough to help them. Thank you to the Mothers who are a part of our team, sacrificing time with your family to do this important work. And thank you to all of the medical professionals who care for Mothers. We are so grateful for all of you.💙🙏🏽

We’re so excited to introduce a new series on our social media channels: Each week we’re going to be focusing on the incredible partnerships which allow us to do the life-changing work of healing women & training doctors. This week we are thrilled to feature EMIRATES. To say that we couldn’t do this work in Africa without them is quite literal - they generously provide the airline tickets via donated Skywards Miles to our medical team to get us to Uganda and home again, safely and in the spirit of flying that only Emirates can provide. Their impeccable service, care for their passengers, clear communication, delicious meals, and fabulous aircraft make airline travel an exceptional experience. There truly is no better way to fly. The Emirates Airline Foundation is an organization dedicated to transforming lives as they support some of the most deserving social causes that develop initiatives to solve these issues. Medicine for Humanity is grateful to have been a recipient of this organization’s support for the last five years, as well as a featured organization on their website and in the EA Foundation brochure in the seat backs of every seat on every plane across their fleet. Our organization is also currently featured as their April 2022 news item on the Emirates Airline Foundation website, featuring information about our 2021 surgical trip. We are so grateful for their generosity and support; we could not do this crucial work without them! Thank you, Emirates. ❤️

Happy Earth Day, friends! Today is an important day to take stock of where we are and where we want to be on our planet. “For Earth Day 2022, we need to act (boldly), innovate (broadly), and implement (equitably). It’s going to take all of us. All in. Businesses, governments, and citizens — everyone accounted for, and everyone accountable. A partnership for the planet.” (Earth day.org) How can you help make our world a better place today? We believe that restoring health and dignity to women is a beautiful way to continue this important work. Please go to medicineforhumanity.org to make a donation of any size and contribute to our efforts. Thank you! 💙🌍✌🏽

is World Health Day! We are so incredibly grateful to our talented, dedicated team of medical professionals and everyone behind the scenes who makes our work possible. We care so deeply about the health of women, and we have you all to thank for supporting us in this endeavor. This year the focus of World Health Day is “our planet, our health”. The World Health Organization states that on World Health Day 2022, WHO will focus global attention on urgent actions needed to keep humans and the planet healthy and foster a movement to create societies focused on well-being. We couldn’t agree more! There has never been a better time than now to be focused on and appreciating one’s health. And you can help us restore health and dignity to women in Uganda by supporting our work. Please visit our website to donate and help us heal women and train doctors.

We were so excited to (virtually) attend the Urology Unit inauguration this morning at Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST). It is always such a pleasure to see the happy faces of our colleagues in Uganda, even more so when they are dedicating a new unit to enable more fistula (and other urology) surgeries… healing more women, and training more doctors. Congratulations, MUST!

We are so proud to share that our MfH Urogynecology Fellow Dr. Paul Kalyebara and recent graduate resident Dr. Brenda Ainomugisha are part of a team managing a fistula repair surgical outreach program in Masaka, Uganda, at Kitovu Hospital. Our incredible Project Director and Lead Surgeon, Dr. Musa Kayondo (Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the head of Fistula plus Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery Division at MUST) accompanied the group. Bravo, team! Restoring health, dignity and hope to women is what it’s all about!

BUILDING HOPE...

For the past eight years during our annual surgical camps at Mbarara University of Science and Technology the women in our care have had to convalesce in a a variety of temporary housing...tents, sheds, and even unused operating theaters.

We are building a permanent year-round Ob/Gyn ward where women can HEAL in community with HOPE and DIGNITY.

We were 70% funded when we broke ground on Dec. 18, 2017 on the Kupona “Hope” Ward for Women. With your support we intend to raise the remaining $25,000 needed, knowing that, as with any construction project, additional unexpected costs may arise.

Thank you for your unending love and support. We could not do any of this without you.
