Hey, y’all. I’m offering free Mindful Meditation Circles via my IG account and in person (NJ). Here is an updated calendar (and there may be some random pop up ones online!)

In a world gone mad, I’ve been trying to figure out what I, as one individual, can do. For years and years I used to facilitate meditation and circles.

I’ve felt the calling to come back to circle and offer support. To offer an opportunity to help individuals come back to themselves, be present for even a brief moment in time, and maybe quiet the mind chatter or help settle some of the stress.

If you are feeling called and think you might want to join me, please give me a follow and save those dates for the virtual circles! (Times in Eastern time zone)

If you happen to live down the Shore in NJ, you are welcome to come to my in person meditation circles. Sign ups for that are in my IG bio.

Many blessings to y’all. ✨🌀🪷🌀✨

Deep Transformation has been a theme in my personal therapy sessions for a while. After period of loss, grief, and mourning, coinciding with turning 40 and experiencing major changes in my biological rhythm, I could tell a deep recognition was beginning.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
At other points in my life, my fiery nature would have pushed for this to happen quickly. But this time I had the sense that this would take a slow and steady attention and care. This is a returning to myself. A stripping away of layers of conditioning and “should haves” that I consciously and unconsciously piled on over the decades.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I can read all the books, listen to all the podcasts, go to all the workshops and trainings. I can cultivate the knowledge but this is different. There is a wisdom in the learned experience. And wisdom we do not procure overnight. It accumulates over time with self-Introspection and being present to oneself.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I still don’t have a clear picture of what’s unfolding. I have little glimpses and big surprises along the way. I am here for the journey. I share this with you because I have so many clients that think I have it all figured out or ask me how I remain so steady and present. The thing is, if I had it all figured out, life would be dull. I’m steady and present because I have cultivated a mindfulness practice over YEARS of my life.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And it takes community and support. Tending and love.

As promised, Mindful Meditation Circles are back!!! I will be offering pop up meditation circles on a monthly basis by month basis (no set times) in person in Manasquan NJ and virtual here on IG Live!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
All meditation circles are free. It is important to me to give back to communities and in this fast hustling world, we need to sit together in circle and practice presence. If you feel called to make a donation, thank you, but not necessary to be with us in circle.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
For the IG Live ones, have your device ready around the time of the streaming and you’ll see me going live up where the stories are. There is an option to go to my profile and get notifications so that you will know when I go live.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The in person meditation circles will be intimate gatherings in my office. Space is capped at 8 so please sign up. Links to register are in my Bio LinkTree page. Because space is limited, if you sign up and the. Cannot make it, please let me know so I can open the side to someone else.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Here are the links for the in person and again, check my bio for the direct links!

I saw this in myself and I see this in clients so frequently: a desire for routine and often the challenging of doing the action. But when the routine or action is deeply infused with mindfulness, alignment with values, and intention, the routine transforms into ritual.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Ritual is a deeply personal and sacred practice. When I witness in myself or others, that alchemizing of routine into ritual, it’s such a beautiful unfolding of the Self. That’s when I know alignment is happening, mindfulness to one’s needs, desires, and healing process has blossomed.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And while ritual is so sacredly personal, done in community, with connection to others, it can be even sweeter. I feel the stirrings in me to start offering mindful meditation circles again. I believe we all need it more than ever right now. So stay tuned…
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What does ritual mean to you?

Feeling so much gratitude today as I begin my first cohort of Somatic Experiencing this time not as a student but as an Assistant! What an honor. And of course, I have these 2 sweet goobers joining in for some emotional regulation.

Even when things feel heavy, it is important to notice the moments of joy, to acknowledge, witness, and express gratitude. In a few days, Heart Mind Wellness will turn 7 years old! I am immensely grateful for all of my clients that have put their trust in my care, have been so vulnerable, shown so much growth, healing, love, strength. So THANK YOU.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I love that my business birthday falls so closely to my own birthday and the Chinese New Year. I’ve never fully resonated with the Gregorian Calendar New Year. I always felt like I was still in a wintering at that time. But after Imbolc (beginning of February) I always start to feel the stirrings of something. Maybe that’s what encouraged me to found HMW that late winter of 2019.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Today is the New Moon in Aquarius and eclipse invoking the humanitarian quirky nature. I am an Aquarian through & through and this energy lights me up and brings me joy. My love and connection in the unbreakable net feels so potent.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
AND, we usher in the New Year with the fire Horse! An energy that has not been present for 60ish years. And while this energy is big, powerful, and strong, please don’t forget about how connected the horse is to the ground, moving with a steady rhythm. If we focus only on the fire and not the steady sustainable rhythm, we run the risk of burn out. We all must work together. Must not forget the power of love.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So again, thank you for being a part of my journey. My family & friends, I could not have done it without you. My colleagues, I am eternally grateful for you. My clients and followers here, thank you for embracing the Heart Mind energy and believing in me. To all of you, I love you dearly.

I’ve seen a lot of buzz recently amongst colleagues debating the place of politics in therapy. Here’s where I stand: I will never impose my beliefs or values on my clients HOWEVER I will not stay silent about my Social Work Code of Ethics, personal & professional values.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I am a clinical social worker. I am an advocate for the oppressed and vulnerable. I stand up for human rights and against inhumane practices. Silence is complicit and violence.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The idea of a blank slate therapist is rooted in white colonialism and patriarchy. The blank slate is a denial of our humanity. I work so hard with my own nervous system to embody the most authentic version of myself and that old paradigm has not one ounce of authenticity.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And you know what? I have chosen to build my own practice and business. I referred a client out because he could not stop using racial & ethnic slurs in my office despite addressing it. I referred out another for using homophobic & transphobic language. You want to work on those biases & judgments? Please, I am happy to help. But I will not tolerate it used flippantly in my place of business or personal life.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Will I lose clients or followers posting like this? Maybe. But I know the ones will stay that share the same LOVE and sacred respect. There is no place for violence in therapy, holistic, wellness, indigenous practices & ritual. So if you feel that sense of collective grief & sacred rage, know that I SEE YOU. I am with you. We will rise up together.

Winter can be tough. Who’s feeling the toll of the colder shorter days snd lack of sun? I know I am.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When I was younger, I never understood why I would get so down in the winter, why the depression would rear its ugly head. Why everything felt harder.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As much as I honor following the cyclical nature of our seasons, I know what I experience every winter is a little extra. If you experience S.A.D., the winter blues, or whatever you want to call it this time of year, know that there’s ways to combat it and help it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Some people choose medication and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. There are other things that can help. (And please remember to consult your therapist, psychiatrist, or doctor for individualized help). Here’s my winter blues toolbox:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1. I stay consistent with therapy. Every week or 2 weeks. She holds me accountable and I feel safe with her.
2. I supplement with other wellness modalities, especially the flowpresso with
3. I use Red Light Therapy and prefer the lamp
4. I eat well, especially root veggies & hearty soups
5. I try to get outside atleast once a day
6. Movement movement movement! Especially dance, brisk walks, and stretching.
7. I practice mindfulness daily.
8. I take my supplements-especially Vit D, Magnesium, Probiotics, B12, Omegas. And I microdose 🍄‍🟫 .co
9. As often as I want to be a hermit, I make sure to be a little social

What other things help you this time of year?

If the world feels heavy, you are not alone. If the stress feels overwhelming, you are not alone. If you feel lost, scared, depressed, anxious, grief, you are not alone. It can feel lonely in a healing journey.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I think back to the time I was healing from the trauma in my first marriage. I think back to the grief cloud after my mother passed. Whether is something deeply personal or you are feeling the collective pain, it’s important to remember that you can also experience joy.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Notice the joy in the briefest of moments. That is resourcing and good care for your Soul. Back in the 90s there were these series of books Chicken Soup for the Soul. Anyone remember those? It would be short stories, thoughts, poetry, that was supposed to be a balm for the tender heart. A brief moment of connection, love, or joy.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Allow space and awareness for these brief moments. They are just as important as the trauma work. It is trauma work. It is part of the healing process.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I spent this morning watching some short videos of baby animals doing zoomies. It brought me such joy and smiles. What has brought you joy in the past day?
