Medical Missionaries is always looking for small miracles. Sometimes we are asked for something we don’t have and then it just appears! Here’s a miracle that happened recently.
We received a letter from an LPN who is a missionary operating an orphanage in Chad, Africa. They have been trying to increase their staff’s capacity to provide life saving measures for hydration, nutrition and medication administration, especially for infants. They had recently lost an infant to dehydration as the hospital did not have access to IV or tube feed equipment. They sent us a letter requesting infant sized feeding tubes, syringes and other supplies for antibiotic injection.
We did not have specific supplies such as these at the office, which are difficult to come by. But on our weekly visit to the Mercy room at UVA Health Prince William Medical Center there they were - exactly the items this nurse was requesting!
Dr. Irwin breathed a sigh of relief and said quietly, “another small miracle.”
