Medical Missionaries is always looking for small miracles. Sometimes we are asked for something we don’t have and then it just appears! Here’s a miracle that happened recently.

We received a letter from an LPN who is a missionary operating an orphanage in Chad, Africa. They have been trying to increase their staff’s capacity to provide life saving measures for hydration, nutrition and medication administration, especially for infants. They had recently lost an infant to dehydration as the hospital did not have access to IV or tube feed equipment. They sent us a letter requesting infant sized feeding tubes, syringes and other supplies for antibiotic injection.

We did not have specific supplies such as these at the office, which are difficult to come by. But on our weekly visit to the Mercy room at UVA Health Prince William Medical Center there they were - exactly the items this nurse was requesting!

Dr. Irwin breathed a sigh of relief and said quietly, “another small miracle.”

Medical Missionaries has been partnering with Build Together from Cameroon. On a recent visit to the Manassas office, their team loaded up a trailer and vehicle with much needed supplies for their efforts for disabled children in Cameroon.

Their President and Founder, Annick Joelle Fotsi, sent a message of thanks for the children who will benefit from these donations.

To all who donate everyday thank you! Every item is put to good use somewhere in our community or around the world!

Medical Missionaries has been partnering with High Metrics Global, from the Ivory Coast. They recently shared that they have officially begun distributing the medical supplies and equipment from our recent container effort.

Their first stop was the Centre Diabétique de Bouaké, a remarkable nonprofit organization led by Dr. Manhan, dedicated to caring for patients with diabetes, diabetic complications, and other chronic illnesses. The equipment was received with tremendous gratitude by Dr. Manhan and his entire team.

The timing could not have been better. The center recently experienced a devastating fire that damaged its pharmacy. After restoring part of its operations, these donated medical supplies and equipment arrived at a moment when they are especially meaningful and desperately needed.

Their team safely stored all of the remaining supplies and equipment in shipping containers, ensuring it remained protected and in excellent condition until the next distribution stops.

Over the coming days, their medical equipment caravan continued into five additional communities where these donations will make a meaningful difference. Their next destinations in the Ivory Coast were the cities of: KOLIA, GBON, KOUTO, N'DÉOU and TINASSO. The response from each healthcare team and community has been incredibly encouraging, and they are grateful to see these donations reaching the people who need them most.

Their team sends thanks for our generosity, trust and friendship which means more than we could ever know or imagine.

Below are some photos of the distribution ceremony. To all our donors who donate a wheelchair or a bag of supplies this is an example of where it may end up in the world!

Our Medical Missionaries Grundy team traveled recently to the Rocklick Food Pantry to deliver the food and other supplies our generous donors had dropped off.

Dr. George Bazaco, Gregg Phillips and Vern Asher met volunteer George Neil on highway 81 where they transferred our trailer to their truck for the long drive to Grundy.

Per Dr. Bazaco, the changes in the SNAP program have significantly impacted the food the community had been receiving. He reported that the Rocklick pantry stores are concerningly and dangerously depleted.

We thank everyone for their generous support of this long term program as we help the community move forward.

Medical Missionaries is so proud of our youth volunteers!

Meet Ben! He is a freshman in high school in Indiana and has been volunteering with MM for over five years now. Ben visits his grandparents in Manassas every summer and really enjoys spending time in our Manassas office as part of his service hours. Last summer Ben volunteered 50+ hours!

When he is not volunteering Ben is a drummer in the school marching band and assists special needs children with their studies. Ben is hopeful for a career in engineering.

While at the office last week Ben was very excited to meet Ret. Col. Monte Dunard, from the Traveling Colonels. Monte spent time with Ben explaining his mission in Ukraine as well as his career as a pilot in the Marines and also as a commercial pilot. Ben was so interested to hear about his heroic humanitarian efforts as well as his esteemed military career.

MM welcomes volunteers of all ages and we are especially appreciative of the extra help over the summer. Well done, Ben!
