🚨 September is National Preparedness Month! 🏠

Emergencies don’t always give us a heads-up, but taking a little time to prepare before something happens can make a big difference.

This month, take a few simple steps to create or update your household emergency plan:

📱 Know how you’ll communicate if your household gets separated.
📍 Plan for the places you go regularly like home, work, school, daycare and more.
🚗 Know when and where to evacuate and where you can shelter.
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Consider everyone’s needs, including older adults, people with disabilities and children.
🐾 Don’t forget your pets! Make sure they’re included in your plan, too.
💊 Keep important information handy, including contact information and medical needs.

You don’t have to do everything at once. Start with one step today. A little preparation now can mean less stress when you need it most.

💙 You never know when you might be in a position to save a life.

An overdose can impact anyone...a child who finds a pill, a teen who makes a risky choice, someone unknowingly exposed to a counterfeit medication, or a friend, family member or neighbor who needs help.

That’s why Western Plains Public Health, Morton Mandan Public Library and the Mandan Police Department are joining National Save a Life Day with an event designed to help our community be prepared. 💙

📅 Thursday, September 24
⏰ 4–6 p.m.
📍 Morton Mandan Public Library

Stop by to:
💊 Learn more about naloxone (Narcan)
🚨 Learn how to recognize the signs of an opioid overdose
🩹 Find out how to access this lifesaving medication
♻️ Bring unused or expired medications for safe disposal

The event is FREE and open to everyone.

You may never expect to need this information, but knowing what to do could make all the difference when it matters most.
