๐Ÿ’œ Today, we recognize International Overdose Awareness Day.

This global day honors the lives lost to overdose, supports individuals and families affected by substance use, and reminds us that compassion, education, and access to care can save lives.

Knowing how to recognize an overdose and administer naloxone (Narcanยฎ) can make a life-saving difference.

Watch this video to learn how Narcan works and why carrying it can help protect your community.

Together, we can reduce stigma, support recovery, and help prevent overdose deaths.

โค๏ธ HIV testing benefits more than just one person it, helps strengthen entire communities.

When people know their status, they can access treatment sooner, protect their health, and help prevent new HIV transmissions.

Did you know?
๐Ÿฉบ Early diagnosis leads to better health outcomes.
๐Ÿ’Š People living with HIV who achieve an undetectable viral load cannot sexually transmit HIV (U=U: Undetectable = Untransmittable).
๐Ÿค Routine testing helps reduce stigma and supports healthier communities.
๐Ÿ“š Testing also helps connect people with prevention tools like PrEP.

Getting tested is a simple step that can make a lasting impact.

๐Ÿ“ž If you think you may benefit from PrEP or need PEP after a possible HIV exposure, RPSSI can help connect you to services and care.

๐ŸŽฌ Wile E. Coyote Could've Used a Better Plan... Make Sure You Have One!

๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ DoxyPEP: Your Emergency Backup Plan

Unlike Wile E. Coyote's plans, yours doesn't have to backfire! ๐Ÿ˜„

Our mascot Rex is channeling their inner coyote to remind everyone that having a backup plan matters.

If you may have been exposed to certain bacterial STIs, DoxyPEP may help reduce your risk when taken within 72 hours of a possible exposure.

Here's what to know:
โœ”๏ธ Start DoxyPEP within 72 hours after a possible exposure.
โœ”๏ธ The sooner it's taken, the more effective it may be.
โœ”๏ธ DoxyPEP is an oral medication.
โœ”๏ธ It's not right for everyone talk with a healthcare provider to see if it's an option for you.

A smart plan isn't about expecting the unexpected it's about knowing your options.

๐Ÿ“ž If you think you may benefit from PrEP, PEP, or DoxyPEP, RPSSI Nassau can help connect you with services and providers.

โฐ One night can change a lot but knowing about PEP can make all the difference!

PEP (Post-Exposure Prophylaxis) is an emergency medication that may help prevent HIV after a possible exposure.

Here's what to remember:
โœ”๏ธ Start within 72 hours of a possible HIV exposure.
โœ”๏ธ The sooner you begin, the more effective it can be.
โœ”๏ธ PEP is taken for 28 days.
โœ”๏ธ It may be available through your primary care provider, an emergency room, or Community Drive Sexual Health.

If you think you've been exposed to HIV, don't wait. Seek medical care as soon as possible.

๐Ÿ“ž If you need to be linked with PEP, RPSSI can help connect you to care.
