✨ BEYOND ACCESS: Disability, Intimacy & Sexual Health ✨

What does it mean to feel fully seen, supported, and connected?

Join the Forum on Female Sexual Medicine on November 7th at Positive Exposure Gallery in NYC for an afternoon exploring disability, intimacy, sexuality, and sexual health. Together, we’ll challenge assumptions, open up conversations that are too often left out, and explore what it means to support the whole person — beyond access alone.

Featuring a special conversation with disability advocate and journalist Maya Moore, moderated by Aditi Mahajan, MD.

💌 Free to attend, with donations welcome. RSVP at the link in bio

SAVE THE DATE ✶
We’re excited to announce Beyond Access: Disability, Intimacy & Sexual Health, an evening exploring the intersections of disability, intimacy, autonomy, pleasure, and representation.

Sexuality is a fundamental part of being human. Yet disabled people are too often excluded from conversations about sexual health.

This November, we’re bringing together people with lived experience, advocates, educators, healthcare professionals, and community organizations to create space for conversation and connection.

At the Forum on FSM The Forum on Female Sexual Medicine - our members investigated what’s actually taught about female sexual medicine (FSM) in medical school. Listen in to hear President/Founder of the Forum on FSM, Jen Romanello, MD, explain what we found.
Female sexual medicine isn’t rare—it’s incredibly common, experienced by about 1 in 4 AFAB individuals. But it’s still not taught consistently. If we want patients to receive better care, it needs to become a standardized part of medical education, not an optional topic determined by who’s available to teach it.
Although this data was collected around 2023 and focuses on 7 medical schools specifically in the Chicago area, it still stands true that whether a med student learns about FSM depends on who happens to be on the faculty teaching at the med school—not on a standardized curriculum.

We have updated our name to “The Forum on FSM” (and removed “Medical Student”). We remain committed to educating medical students about FSM and this name reflects our move to more broadly include allied health students/trainees and resident physicians in our community and programming!

Three Forum members attended an early screening of The M Factor 2: Before the Pause, Perimenopause in Chicago last night. The documentary premieres on PBS this March, and we were grateful for the opportunity to view it early and hear insights during the Q&A panel featuring Dr. Rahman. Thank you to Dr. Rahman for the invitation and for advancing conversations around menopause and women’s health!!
