Warrior Life Wellness Spreading awareness about infertility and how restorative reproductive medicine can help! I have a passion for pursuing excellent health!

Check out my blog, Warrior Life Wellness, and podcast, Restoring Fertility Naturally. It is an ever-evolving, fine-tuning process, and each day I learn more about my body, nutrition, and how to take care of myself and my family naturally. My husband Mark and I have discovered both the power of doTERRA essential oils coupled with the Paleo lifestyle. Good health is not based just on one thing - it

is based on food, natural medicine, exercise, stress management, and proper sleep, to name a few. I created this page to share resources and tips that I find and that I'm trying (or want to try) - these things are too good to keep to myself! :)

It’s official! My first video as Black Rifle Homestead is live! Go check it out in my profile. The short story is that I’m now focusing mostly on content about homesteading as a military family! I hope you’ll join me on this journey since I know a lot of you out there want to start homesteading too, even if you don’t have a ton of acreage. You can homestead right where you are!! 🙌🏻🤠

On one hand, it seems like we just had Christmas. On the other, it’s been a very long and full year! One year ago, we were in California, just us and no family. I was newly pregnant with Gus, Max was a couple weeks away from being 1 year old, and it was our first Christmas without Zoey. The year before that, we celebrated Christmas with just ourselves and Zoey, with Max in my belly a couple weeks from being born - living in a hotel while waiting for military housing. The year before that (2018) was our last Christmas before kids, but of course we didn’t know it at the time. It was one of THE most memorable ones though, because it was in Germany and my family and Mark’s brother visited us! And our first Christmas in Europe, it again was just us and Zoey.
As a military family, you never know what Christmas will look like. For a short while, we thought that Mark would be away on an assignment during Christmas this year - so I temporarily had to adjust my expectations. It was a good exercise in being flexible and accepting of our circumstances! Christmas during infertility also was not the easiest, although family greatly helped take away the sting of that cross. We’ve also had 3 Christmases where we couldn’t decorate due to moving - for 2 of those, we didn’t even have a home yet! This year is the first time we’ve hosted Mark’s parents, and not only do we get to celebrate Christmas Day with them, we get to visit my family next week during the 12 days of Christmas! Our nomadic and unpredictable military life makes me savor these times of “normalcy.” A tree. Lights outside. Wrapped gifts. A homemade dinner. The crèche. Family.
I don’t know what next Christmas will look like. Hopefully similar to this one. But being married to someone who is insightful about current events, especially in light of the eternal, has brought on some serious-themed conversations about what the near future may hold. But for now, for this Christmas season, I want to focus on what really matters: the fact that the Son of God came to earth and was a tiny baby, like us “in all things but sin,” in order to die on the cross to save us. What a Savior. What a gift. Merry Christmas everyone! 🎄

We now have 1/4 of a cow in our freezer! Some reasons to get a cow share: protect yourself against further inflation, support your local economy, get grass-fed/grass-finished meat at a lower price, and not have to rely so much on the national and global food supply chain!

Gus’s First Thanksgiving 🦃
So much to be thankful for this year. Gus. Max. Mark. My family. Mark’s family. Being surrounded by family this Thanksgiving. Continued good health. Our Catholic faith and our wonderful parish St. Isidore’s. Living in Kansas which means less than a day’s drive to family, for the first time in our military life. The opportunity to have more food security by growing a bigger garden and having local farms to depend on. The list could go on! It’s easy in the day to day to dwell on the hardships, because let’s face it - we all have our struggles! But I’m glad we have this yearly holiday to remind us to regularly give thanks. 🙏🏻

We have a fairly small pantry space that needed re-organizing, so in this week's video I'm taking y'all along with me on my pantry organizing project! I hope this serves as inspiration for you to go organize your pantry or wherever in your house needs a little extra attention. 🙂

💙 Being like the mom to the 7 sons in Maccabees 💙
Today’s First Reading of the Mass (2 Maccabees 7: 1, 20-31) really resonated with me today. If you didn’t read it, go read it! But basically there were 7 brothers being sentenced to death because they refused to violate God’s law. Can you imagine being their mother and knowing they were going to die?? Yet she stood strong, even as her youngest son was given the “chance” to live (which would have entailed disobeying God). She spoke words of truth to him before he went to his death, to stay strong and loyal to the Lord and his brothers who died before him for refusing to violate their faith.
Why did this resonate with me? I don’t have 7 sons (yet 😂) and they’re not facing death for following God’s commandments. But it resonated with me because of the current culture we’re living in. People forced to violate their religious beliefs in order to keep their job. Children forced to mask which probably has ramifications we don’t fully understand yet. Fear and uncertainty seemingly around every corner. Fellow moms: are we strong like the mother to 7 sons in Maccabees? We may not be faced with a death sentence for our children, but are we willing to put our reputations on the line in order to make sure they grow up strong in virtue, willing to make a stand for God? It’s not easy being a Catholic family in these times and also not easy raising good men. There’s pushback at every turn. Messages that masculinity is toxic, and even worse, the feminizing of our young men and the disgusting idea that boys can become girls (and vice versa). So like the mother in Maccabees, be courageous! Speak LIFE to your sons (and daughters too)! Hard things will be demanded of this young generation, but God will equip us to help them face that and embrace their calling. As one of my favorite saints would say, “Be not afraid!” -Pope St. John Paul II
