A spontaneous video Javi decided to make regarding training and the mentality one should have when embarking on a new training cycle. The road to getting better is a JOURNEY, not a SPRINT. Be patient and consistent in your lifts as you continue to adapt; PERFECT practice makes perfect. Your training program is designed to get you to your end state goal, NOT immediate gratification. Going after 90-100%+ lifts on a daily basis will a) cause more misses and frustration, and b) result in injury later on down the road. In my humble opinion, most lifters don't have the discipline to engage in a heavy-single, Bulgarian-style program because instead of listening to their body, they keep the "I hit 100 kg before, so I should be somewhere close to that, not this 80 kg that feels like the weight of the world, so let me continue to try to go closer to 100 instead of being snappy and consistent at 80." I'm a strong advocate of training smart. I'm in no way downplaying the Bulgarian approach; it is a proven system, but for the majority of people, this is not the right approach. Instead, a methodical, progressive approach - coupled with the watchful eye of a quality coach - will see you to your desired goals. Good luck, train smart, stay tight, aggressive, and keep pushing!
