Eggstraordinary Embryo Embryologist helping patients decode their IVF results — with science & heart 🧫💗

If you’re comparing IVF clinics, ask this question:
👉 Do you have an electronic witnessing system?
Electronic witnessing doesn’t replace embryologists.
It doesn’t replace protocols.
It doesn’t replace human oversight.
But it adds another layer of protection to help maintain chain of custody and reduce the risk of identification errors.
In our latest episode of the Embryo Report 🎙️ Handle With Care, Eva Schenkman and I discuss IVF mistakes, transparency, and the systems that help keep patients and embryos safe.

I know this might get some hate…and that’s okay.

The truth is, we’ve been told for so long that infertility is our fault that we’ve started to believe we can “fix” it.

That mindset is toxic.

Because the reality is: with very few exceptions, we have very limited control over our eggs. They are on their own timeline, their own biology.

Should we take care of ourselves? Of course.
For our physical and emotional well-being, always.

But the idea that we can control fertility through diets, detoxes, and endless supplements?

That’s not science.

And realizing there’s an entire industry profiting off the hope of women who just want a child… is hard to ignore.

Most patients are told their cycle failed because of “bad egg quality.”

And they stop there.

But that’s not an explanation.
It’s where the investigation stopped.

If you made a blastocyst, your egg functioned.
If embryos are aneuploid, that’s genetics, not quality.
If no one discussed s***m, timing, or egg maturity…
then you were given a partial answer.

And partial answers lead to repeated failed cycles.

I review IVF cycles the way they should have been reviewed the first time
looking at stimulation, timing, lab decisions, and embryo development together.

If your cycle “didn’t work” and it still doesn’t fully make sense to you,
there’s usually a reason.

Some stories of motherhood started long before a positive test.

Before IVF worked, it failed…again and again.
And still, 46 women chose to donate their eggs.
Not so much for themselves, but for the possibility that one day… it might help someone else.

Those early attempts led to the birth of Louise Brown, and to millions of families today.

This Mother’s Day, we celebrate mothers…
and the women who made motherhood possible for others.

Inspired by a moment from Joy.

Most patients are told “your eggs were bad”…
and they never question it.

But “bad eggs” is often a vague label
used to describe what actually happened in the lab.

Fractured zona. Empty zona. Degenerated oocytes.

These are observations, not explanations.

And in many cases, they reflect:
→ egg fragility
→ or how the eggs were handled

Not your fertility potential.

You deserve clarity. Not confusion.

If you’ve been through IVF and something didn’t sit right,
I’ll help you read between the lines.

This is it.

The hardest part of infertility.

Everyone is talking about egg freezing right now.

And it’s a great option…
👉 but not for everyone.

What most people are not told is that:

* not all eggs survive freezing and thawing
* and more importantly, you don’t know how those eggs will actually develop

So you might feel like you’ve “secured your fertility”…
👉 while your fertility window is still closing.

For some women, especially with lower ovarian reserve or at a later age,
👉 embryos can be a more reliable strategy.

This is not an easy decision
especially if you don’t have a partner.

But understanding the real implications
👉 is what allows you to make the right choice for YOU

If your clinic told you how many follicles you had…
but not how to interpret them, read this.

Not all follicles are equal.
Not all eggs are mature.
And your hormone levels are not just “numbers.”

→ E2 can give you a rough expectation
→ Follicle size matters more than count
→ Timing can make or break a cycle

Yet most patients are left with:
“Everything looks good.”

If your cycle didn’t fully make sense to you…
it should have.

I review IVF cycles from a laboratory perspective,
to find patterns, not guesses.

Knowledge is power at all levels in life.
