Schoolcraft County Veterans Affairs would like to honor..
United States Army Veteran,
Rindy Slater
Rindy Slater proudly served in the United States Army as an Apache Crew Chief from 2005 to 2006. In this role, she was responsible for aircraft maintenance and readiness, helping ensure mission success and the safety of flight crews.
While stationed in Korea in 2006, Rindy met her husband, Max. They welcomed their daughter, Alexia, in 2007, and Rindy balanced motherhood while continuing her professional career with Federal Reserve Financial Services, where she worked from 2011 to 2013. Her career was marked by dedication, responsibility, and a strong commitment to excellence.
Rindy and Max were married in 2011 and later welcomed their son, Jamison, in 2014. Today, one of her greatest sources of pride is seeing her daughter, Alexia, follow in her footsteps by answering the call to serve and pursuing a future in the United States Marine Corps.
Today, Rindy remains a passionate advocate for veterans and her local community. She currently serves as Commander of the U.P. Women's Veterans Association, where she works to support and empower women veterans throughout the Upper Peninsula. This organization is highly active throughout the local community, consistently participating in events, service projects, and efforts that strengthen and support those around them. Rindy’s commitment to the association reflects her passion for service, her dedication to fellow veterans, and her belief in strengthening both the veteran community and the families they serve.
Rindy is also an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and is involved with Helpful Hotspot Jr., helping make a positive impact in the lives of others.
In addition to her veteran advocacy, Rindy serves as President of the Band Boosters organization, supporting local youth and music programs. She is also a member of her church's handbell choir and the founder of Broken Spines Books, a newly established small business created out of a passion for reading, storytelling, and community connection.
Through her continued leadership, volunteerism, and commitment to serving others, Rindy exemplifies the values of service, community, and dedication both in and out of uniform.
Rindy’s Military Tribute Banner will be proudly displayed Spring of 2027.
