Here’s how fat loss really works:

Nutrition will be the main driver. You WILL NOT lose weight unless you are in a calorie deficit. Yes, a deficit can be created through increasing activity BUT this also comes with a cost. The more (intense) activity you do, likely the hungrier you’re going to be. In maintenance, we solve this by increasing our intake to account for that. In a deficit, we can’t do this. So you potentially put yourself in a position where you’ll be battling more hunger and more cravings which if we’re not careful, can pull us right out of our deficit. Plus, we can’t measure calorie expenditure like we can our intake. So tracking your food is always going to be #1.

Your daily movement (steps), strength training, and managing sleep and stress and the next most important factors.

Im not saying you can’t run and have success with your fat loss goals, but I am saying that if you’re running ONLY because you want to lose weight or body fat,
1. It’s probably going to feel miserable
2. There’s more efficient ways to do this

SIMPLE ≠ BORING!!!

I say it allllll the time! The meals that help you stay consistent are not the ones that require hours of prep or have a million ingredients (especially if you’re in a season of tracking, this is only making you life 10x harder)

You need meal combos that are SIMPLE, SATISFYING, AND ACTUALLY TASTE GOOD 😌 because if you’re forcing yourself to choke down a meal you don’t enjoy, it’s only a matter of time before you say “F*** this!” order take out, and start the “I’ll start over on Monday” cycle

I haven’t tracked my food in MFP in a hot second (and by hot second I mean almost a year now?!) so my calorie target is off. Ignore that 😛

I’m averaging between 2500-2700 most days and I feel really good here!

These posts are always highly requested and I’m happy sharing with you all how I structure my day, but just remember that nutrition is so individual!! Which is why I added more context on each slide to share with you my thought process around each of my meal selections.

I juggle a lot in a single week (as I know most of you do, too!). My goal when fueling my body daily is to choose meal combos that I enjoy, that don’t require a whole lot of prep, and that are simple that I can keep in rotation.

The other day, someone asked me how to fight the 3pm hunger…

and I said “don’t fight it!!!!!”

We act like we’re not supposed to be hungry around 3pm?? Most of us *should have* eaten lunch a few hours before this, and dinner likely isn’t until much later, so if you want to avoid snacking your way through the evening… plan an intentional snack 👏🏻

With the exception of weeks on vacation or travel, I’ve had this yogurt bowl daily for… SO LONG 😝 I love yogurt bowls because you can swap ingredients so you never get bored!!

Would you just say “screw it! I messed up already, I’m never brushing them again!” No. You wouldn’t.

So stop acting like this with your health and fitness goals!! Getting back on track is simple. It requires you to make your next decision a good one. That’s it. Don’t overcomplicate it!! Your NEXT decision matters 10x more than the ‘mess up’ 💥
