Currently pursuing her Bachelor’s in psychology, Jocelyne joined our team to gain hands-on, day-to-day experience so she can best support people in her future career as a caseworker and therapist.

She absolutely loves helping people discover what brings them joy, get active in the community, and have a great time every step of the way! As a dedicated team member, her ultimate goal is to empower Dreamlifers to commit to their goals while making the journey fun and fulfilling. Jocelyne is working toward her Bachelor’s in psychology. She is hoping to go onto case work and therapy but wanted to get experience working with people in their day to day lives so that way she knows how best to help people in her future roles. October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month; a month that celebrates the many contributions of people with disabilities in the workplace, as well as a month to address the barriers of inclusion for people with disabilities.

Organizations across the country have been working towards the freedom from discrimination for those with disabilities who want to work. Research has found that 76% of employees with disabilities don’t fully disclose their disabilities at work.

Discrimination is not always direct, it can be the way employees treat their coworkers with disabilities differently than other coworkers. It can also show up as limited opportunities at work, due to workers with disabilities often being viewed as incapable.

DreamLife Destiny works adamantly everyday, side by side with our DreamLifers to create their most independent and fulfilling life, their ‘DreamLife’. Our Dream Careers program is no exception. We work tirelessly with our DreamLifers to craft resumes, build job skills, search for employment opportunities, and advocate for their equal rights to work. We believe in turning dreams into reality.

Our DreamLifers did not only celebrate, but were also there to represent the community of people with disabilities that are fighting for their right to be equal and valued.

Kai has spent more than a decade in support roles from Americorps and tech support, to customer service. He’s a lifelong learner who values good communication, thoughtful listening, and finding ways to make things work a bit better. He volunteers as a crisis counselor and brings training in various areas, including communication and CFSS support. Along with good humans, Kai is happiest around dogs and takes inspiration from their energy and enthusiasm for life. As an equal enjoyer of the indoors and outdoors, he can be found hiking, hunting waterfalls, reading, gaming, or exploring quirky places.
