This blend of practical elements builds the solid healing foundation for those currently struggling with substance use.

7.7 million adults have co-occurring substance abuse and mental disorders (National Institute on Drug Abuse; NIH)

Not everyone with comorbid disorders receive treatment that address both mental health and substance use. In fact, only 9.1% of people who seek treatment receive a blended approach, with 34.5% accepting solely mental health treatment and 3.9% obtaining solely substance abuse treatment (National Institute on Drug Abuse; NIH).

The Co-Occurring Substance Use Treatment group is a comprehensive treatment option for anyone that is seeking an intimate group setting to support their recovery.

The group is limited to 10 members to allow for deeper connection and processing, as well as time to address both mental health and substance use issues. What makes this a unique program is its focus on the emotional, cognitive, somatic, and spiritual aspects of regulation to meet the needs of each client holistically.

Complications in recovery from substance abuse are compounded when underlying mental health concerns are not addressed.

The Co-Occurring Substance Use Treatment Group at Soul Savvy Counseling & Therapy offers clients an opportunity to address both mental health and substance abuse concerns in a small, safe, and sensitive environment with Robert Andrews-Mendoza, an experienced LADC with a passion for co-occurring disorders.

The group meets virtually, two times a week, and in the evenings via a HIPAA compliant platform. The small group environment allows for each client to share, be supported by group members, and receive practical resources to aid healing.

Additionally, group members have direct access to Rob for individual sessions between group times to provide maximum support during their group experience.

Each group member will have a SUD comprehensive assessment & a diagnostic assessment with Rob prior to beginning the group. Once the client has begun the group, they will continue to have individual sessions with Rob and discharge is determined collaboratively, not just when sobriety is achieved or if relapse occurs.

What makes this a unique program is its focus on the emotional, cognitive, somatic, and spiritual aspects of regulation to meet the needs of each client holistically.
