An autoimmune disease is a condition in which the immune system mistakenly attacks and damages healthy tissue and cells instead of protecting the body as it was designed to do. (autoimmune association)
It is estimated that 10 million people in the US have an autoimmune disease. By raising awareness of conditions such as lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, and dermatomyositis, we can advance our knowledge and research, and provide support for those affected.
