When a wound isn't healing, what comes next?

New research in the Journal of Wound Care offers an important perspective on the potential role of combined technologies in treating hard-to-heal wounds.

Using STORZ MEDICAL EMTT + ESWT (C-ACTOR) alongside standard wound care, researchers reported:

- 69.5% reduction in wound area after four weeks
- 86.7% complete wound closure, averaging 5.2 weeks
- 71.9% reduction in pain, with no reported adverse events

The study is small, involving just 15 patients, and further controlled research is needed. But the clinical conversation it opens is significant.

The opportunity isn't simply adding another treatment. It's understanding how different technologies may complement established care when healing has stalled.

Three events. One weekend. A lot of conversations around where shockwave, EMTT, and better clinical implementation are headed.

This weekend, the Kinas Medical team was on-site across three events: FYZICAL Brand Triumph, Chiro & Beyond, and Ben Fergus’s Non-Surgical Knee Joint Replacement Workshop.

The conversation around growth plates, youth athletes, and shockwave is becoming more precise with a better understanding of dosing.

Rather than relying on age alone or blanket avoidance, clinicians are being encouraged to consider skeletal maturity, the specific tissue being treated, treatment location, dosing, prior rehabilitation, and the athlete’s broader care plan.

Shockwave is not appropriate for every youth sports injury. In select cases, however, careful risk stratification and shared decision-making may help clinicians determine when to treat, when to modify, when to refer, and when to wait.
