FCA has always been about the people for us. It’s where we’ve met clinicians who went on to become longtime clients, partners and friends.

Dr. Joe Johnson is one of them. We first connected nearly 20 years ago, when shockwave was still new to many U.S. practices. After experiencing the technology himself for a hand injury that threatened his ability to continue practicing, he became an early adopter.

Looking back, Joe recently told us:
“I immediately felt a 70–80% reduction in pain and symptoms… It was a God send answer to prayer—saved my career, and I am still practicing 20 years later and still using the equipment.”

That history is a big part of why we still enjoy FCA: reconnecting with clinicians we’ve known for years and meeting the people who may be just beginning their own shockwave journey.

Come see what’s new, bring your questions, or just stop by and talk shop.

We’ll be at FCA The National in Booth 210, and this year we’re setting things up a little differently.

With 35 years in shockwave and as the longest-standing U.S. provider of STORZ Medical technology, we know there’s a lot more to choosing the right system than seeing a quick demo.

So our booth is built to give you a few ways to explore:

- Discover the new MASTERPULS icon and R-SW100, along with some of our most popular systems
- Browse the technology at your own pace and compare different options
- Try our new ROI calculator to get an estimate of what adding Shockwave or EMTT could mean for your practice
- Sit down with a Kinas Medical product expert for a one-on-one conversation if you have more specific questions or are ready to see your personalized quote

The conversation around growth plates, youth athletes, and shockwave is becoming more precise with a better understanding of dosing.

Rather than relying on age alone or blanket avoidance, clinicians are being encouraged to consider skeletal maturity, the specific tissue being treated, treatment location, dosing, prior rehabilitation, and the athlete’s broader care plan.

Shockwave is not appropriate for every youth sports injury. In select cases, however, careful risk stratification and shared decision-making may help clinicians determine when to treat, when to modify, when to refer, and when to wait.

Shockwave is most effective when treatment begins with the tissue, not a generic protocol.

Tendon, bone, muscle, fascia, and enthesis each respond differently. Effective clinical decision-making means identifying the pain generator, defining the desired response, and selecting the technology, depth, and dosage that match the case.

Our latest article explores how current research translates into more precise, practical shockwave treatment.

What if the highest cost in rehabilitation isn’t the treatment itself, but the time it takes to heal?

A recent review of ESWT in fracture management reported a 72% overall union rate in delayed unions/nonunions and a 46% relative risk reduction in nonunions for acute high-energy fractures. Those outcomes matter for patients, but they also matter for practice performance.

When patients progress efficiently, clinics can:
• Reduce unnecessary visits
• Open appointment capacity without extending hours
• Improve patient flow and scheduling predictability
• Create more opportunities for new evaluations
• Strengthen referral relationships through consistent outcomes

The conversation around shockwave therapy often focuses on pain and healing. An equally important discussion is how evidence-based interventions can impact provider time, clinic capacity, and the overall patient experience.

The Economics of Healing Faster: How Shockwave Impacts Cost and Patient Retention. A growing body of evidence suggests that the use of ESWT in post-operative care is capable of addressing the duality of running a practice.

Rehabilitation timelines have traditionally been treated as fixed.
But what if recovery speed is influenced by the rehabilitation strategy itself?

A recent pilot study examining the integration of ESWT + EMTT after surgery showed:
• Earlier pain reduction
• Earlier healing indicators
• Faster return to activity

The conversation around athlete recovery may be shifting from “managing timelines” to influencing them through biology, sequencing, and tissue response.

This article explores how Shockwave and EMTT may change the way providers think about post-surgical rehabilitation and return-to-play strategy.
