On World Hospice and Palliative Care Day, we're highlighting the important role hospice and palliative care play in helping patients and families navigate serious illness.

Both hospice and palliative care focus on comfort, quality of life and support, helping patients receive care that aligns with their goals and wishes. Palliative care can begin at diagnosis and alongside treatment. Hospice care is typically chosen when treatment is no longer working or a patient decides to stop curative treatment for a terminal illness, shifting the focus to comfort, quality of life and support for both the patient and their loved ones.

When work is booming and you're all so busy taking care of business your new employee spotlight turns into a not-so new employee spotlight! ☺️
👋Let us officially introduce you to Mike Holland, MSW. Mike joined us in April and has seamlessly stepped into his role as hospice social worker.
⭐️Mike brings 26 years of experience in the social work field. Throughout his career he has had the opportunity to work with children and families, as well as many years serving individuals in addiction treatment and recovery programs. Mike states, "helping others navigate life's challenges has been a rewarding and meaningful part of my professional journey."
⭐️Outside of his career, he enjoys spending time with his family and watching sports. Mike and his wife have three children, 12-year-old twin boys, and a 20-year-old daughter. As a family, they enjoy camping, fishing, attending sporting events, and spending time outdoors. They also stay busy with their four dogs: three golden retrievers and an Australian Shepherd.
When Mike joined us he said, "I am excited to be part of the Amedisys family and look forward to continuing to support patients and families with compassion, dignity, and care."

We couldn't ask for a better addition to this growing team and work family!
