There comes an interesting but necessary point in our spiritual practice, where it brings us right back to being human.
Our “spirituality” is not something that is worn like a robe, giving our ego something else to attach itself to.
Our practices are tools, designed to bring about a self awareness, that makes our humanness more viable and alive.
We’re not practicing to become better yogis, or witches or shamans or alchemists or priestesses. We’re practicing to become better humans. And the tools we provide are just that.
They give us a way to see and experience how magick has always been infused into the mundane. Nature is alive with a spirit that is also infused within you. Rituals are designed to focus your attention and help you recognize how powerful you are. All in all helping you believe in YOURSELF.
This is what the axiom means “as above, so below, as within, so without.”
Yoga acts as a defense against your own psychology, giving you tools to help you believe in something besides your own pain and smallness.
The shadow work involved in all the practices are designed to break you free from a cage, not to put you in another one ornately designed with fancy spiritual titles.
We’re not role playing here. If your spiritual practice isn’t helping you with making better decisions, giving you a stronger body to get you through life, providing you with more clarity, helping you handle difficulties, giving more peace while washing the dishes and folding the laundry… then truly what is the point?
Being human is both beautiful and maddening. It’s challenging yet we are fully built for it. And that is in part what we are here to remember.
So chant, pray, practice, circle, build altars, cast all the spells. Believe in magick, myth, fairies and mystery. What ever awakens your human spirit to more brightness, resilience, clarity, compassion, understanding, creativity & self awareness… we’re here for it!
