ROADWAY IS NOW OPEN.

ROAD CLOSURE: State Route 120 is blocked at the 7.5 mm between Cave Springs Rd and Sugar Grove Church Rd for an overturned semi. Estimated time of closure will be 4 hours. Please find an alternate route of travel until the roadway can be cleared. Traffic is being detoured at KY 654 and KY 139.

Crittenden Co Sheriff, Emergency Management, EMS, Rescue Squad, Shady Grove FD, Mattoon FD and County Fire units as well as State Hwy Dept personnel are on-scene at this time.

As we celebrate America’s birthday with family, friends, cookouts, and fireworks this weekend, we encourage everyone to make safety part of the celebration.

🌞 Beat the Heat
• Stay hydrated throughout the day.
• Limit prolonged exposure to the sun.
• Check on elderly family members, neighbors, and anyone who may need assistance.
• Never leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle—even for a minute.

🎇 Firework Safety
• Follow all local laws and safety guidelines.
• Keep a water hose or bucket nearby.
• Closely supervise children around fireworks.
• Wear eye protection when lighting fireworks.
• Soak used fireworks thoroughly before disposing of them.

🚑 If an emergency happens, don’t hesitate to call 911. Our crews are on duty 24/7, ready to serve our community while you enjoy the holiday.

Tips to stay cool:
🧊drink water AND electrolytes
🧊stay indoors when possible
🧊find shade
🧊avoid excessive caffeine intake
🧊check on vulnerable populations often- elderly, children, and animals
