Over the next several days, our area is expected to experience extremely high temperatures. We encourage everyone to take the heat seriously and look out for one another.
Here are a few simple ways to stay safe:
☀️ Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water, even if you don’t feel thirsty.
☀️ Limit outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day whenever possible.
☀️ Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing and take frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning.
☀️ Never leave children, or pets in a parked vehicle even for a minute.
☀️ Check on elderly family members, neighbors, and anyone who may not have access to air conditioning.
Know the warning signs of heat-related illness. Heavy sweating, dizziness, weakness, nausea, headache, muscle cramps, or confusion can all be signs that someone is overheating. If someone becomes confused, loses consciousness, or stops sweating despite the heat, call 911 immediately.
Let’s all do our part to stay safe over the next few days. A quick phone call or visit to check on a friend or neighbor could make all the difference.
Stay cool, stay hydrated, and stay safe.
