One of the first things I thought after reading this piece was about was her patients who suffer from addiction. We are an addiction medicine practice in Marlborough and Brockton, MA. I have no idea how to reach out to her patients, but they must be scared to death!
Most of our folks are on some form of buprenorphine and they have had poor experiences with stigma in the medical system (doctors, pharmacists, insurance companies). They are likely scared about where their medication will come from and what hoops they'll have to go through to find a local doc.
If you know of any patients affected by this, we will happily get them in ASAP.
