Most people think blood sugar is only something to pay attention to if there is a diagnosis. But blood sugar affects far more than that. Energy. Cravings. Mood. Hormones.
And it is changing throughout the day based on how your body responds to food, stress, sleep, and activity.

This is where continuous glucose monitoring (CGMs) can be incredibly helpful. Instead of guessing, you can actually see what is happening in real time.

How different meals affect you
When energy dips are likely to happen
How stress or poor sleep shows up in the body
It often brings clarity to patterns that were not obvious before.
Why you feel tired after certain meals
Why cravings show up at specific times
Why energy feels inconsistent, even when eating “well”

This kind of insight allows for a much more personalized approach. Rather than following general guidelines, you can start to understand how your body specifically responds.

If you are curious about how your blood sugar patterns may be influencing your energy, hormones, or overall health, this is something we explore in practice.

New research helps explain why GLP-1 medication might not be right for everyone. Scientists found that around 1 in 10 people may have something called “GLP-1 resistance.”

This means the body is producing the hormone that helps regulate blood sugar and appetite…but not responding to it the way it should. So even with medication designed to mimic that hormone, the effect can be reduced.

𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗼𝗻𝗲-𝘀𝗶𝘇𝗲-𝗳𝗶𝘁𝘀-𝗮𝗹𝗹. 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀, 𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗺, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆 𝗮 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲.

It also reinforces something important. Medications like GLP-1s can be a helpful tool, but they are not the right fit for everyone. A more personalized approach helps determine when they are appropriate, how the body is responding, and what other support may be needed alongside them.

If you have felt unsure about whether this type of approach is right for you, we can help guide you through it. Our 12-Week Energy, Hormone and Metabolism Reset is a great place to start. https://monarchfm.com/12-weeks-reset/

“Eat healthy” is not specific enough.

Your body may respond differently to carbs, fats, protein, and fasting than someone else’s body does. That is why a personalized macro breakdown can be so helpful.

Genetic testing can give us insight into how your body may respond to different macronutrient patterns, which can impact:

Energy
Cravings
Blood sugar balance
Weight changes
Hormone balance
Satiety
Metabolic flexibility

It is not always about eating less.

Sometimes it is about eating in a way that better matches your metabolism.

At Monarch Functional Medicine, we use symptoms, labs, and genetics together to create a plan that makes sense for your actual body.

Because vague advice does not create clarity.

A clear plan does.

Low energy. Mood changes. Poor sleep. Cycles starting to shift.

At some point, a lot of people start wondering…
is this just life right now, or is something actually off?

For some, hormone replacement therapy can be a really helpful piece of the puzzle. But the important part is knowing whether it’s actually right for your body.

Because hormones don’t just change on their own. They’re influenced by things like stress, sleep, and how your body is functioning overall.

That’s why testing matters.

It gives you a clearer picture of where your hormones are at, how they’re being regulated, and what your body actually needs, before jumping into anything.

When HRT is used in the right context, it can be incredibly supportive.
But it shouldn’t be a guess.

If you’ve been feeling off and wondering if hormones could be part of it, the next step is getting some clarity around what’s really going on.

These might seem like separate habits, but they are often connected to the same thing. How the body is being fueled throughout the day.

Irregular meal timing, unbalanced meals, or long gaps without food can make it harder for the body to maintain steady energy. This can impact blood sugar, digestion, and even hormone signals related to hunger and stress.

For example, skipping meals can lead to energy crashes later. Constant snacking can make it harder for digestion to fully reset. And unbalanced meals can leave the body looking for quick energy shortly after eating.

When meals are more regular and balanced, energy tends to feel more stable, digestion more consistent, and hunger signals clearer.

What if your body does not need the same diet as everyone else?

Some people feel better with more carbs.
Some need more protein.
Some do better with more healthy fats.

Inside the 12 Week Reset, genetic testing helps us look at YOUR macro response so we can stop forcing a one-size-fits-all plan.

More and more children are using melatonin to help with sleep. It is often seen as a simple, natural solution. But new research is highlighting that it may not be as straightforward as it seems.

Melatonin can be helpful in certain cases, especially for children with specific conditions. But for general sleep challenges, the evidence is still limited, especially when it comes to long-term use. There are also concerns around inconsistent dosing in supplements and how easily they are being used without guidance.

What is important to understand is that melatonin is not just a supplement. It is a hormone that affects multiple systems in the body. Sleep is usually a reflection of underlying patterns. Things like routine, light exposure, stress, and daily habits often play a much bigger role.

Melatonin can have a place when used appropriately, but it is not meant to replace foundational sleep support.
