🇺🇸 Labor Day Weekend is almost here!
Whether you’re firing up the grill, spending time by the water, or heading outdoors for one last summer adventure, a few simple precautions can help keep your holiday weekend safe and fun.
🔥 Grilling: Keep raw and ready-to-eat foods separate, keep perishable foods cold, and always grill away from structures and anything that could catch fire.
💦 Water: Keep a close eye on children and swimmers, designate a water watcher, wear a life jacket when boating, and head indoors when you hear thunder.
🥾 Outdoors: Bring plenty of water, pack a first aid kit, dress for the weather, and let someone know where you’re going.
Whatever your plans, the Morgan County Health Department wishes everyone a safe, healthy, and enjoyable Labor Day weekend!

🍂 September is Healthy Aging Month!
Staying active, confident, and independent is an important part of healthy aging—and preventing falls can make a big difference.
A Matter of Balance classes are designed to help older adults reduce their fear of falling and increase their confidence and activity levels.
Through the program, participants learn practical strategies to:
👟 Reduce their risk of falls
💪 Improve strength and balance
🏠 Make their homes safer
💚 Feel more confident staying active and independent
The Morgan County Health Department identified unintentional falls as a leading cause of nonfatal injury hospitalizations and implemented a program to help reduce falls among those most at risk.

💜 Today is International Overdose Awareness Day.

For 25 years, this day has brought communities together to remember those we’ve lost, support those impacted by overdose, and take action to save lives.

This year’s theme, “25 Years On. Still Needed.”, reminds us that overdose continues to affect communities everywhere—but overdose is preventable, and every life matters.

By talking openly, reducing stigma, and supporting one another, we can help create a future where this day is no longer needed.
