Before you reach for the food, pause for just a moment.
Not to decide whether you're “allowed” to eat it. Not to judge yourself.
Just ask:
Why am I choosing this?
Maybe you're genuinely hungry. Maybe you really love the food and want to enjoy it. Maybe you're celebrating. Or maybe you're eating because you don't want to disappoint someone, because it's a special occasion, or because you've decided you deserve to overeat.
There is no need to shame yourself for the answer.
The goal is simply to notice. Because when you understand why you're making a choice, you have the opportunity to decide whether it's a choice you truly want to make.
I talk more about this in Episode 543: Is Overeating Really a Gift to Yourself? | A Special Birthday Episode.
