May is National Speech-Language-Hearing Month (NSLHM), a time to raise awareness about communication disorders affecting1 in 12 children and celebrate the professionals—audiologists and speech-language pathologists (SLPs)—who provide life-transforming treatment.
This month emphasizes early detection of speech, language, and hearing challenges, enabling timely intervention to support developmental milestones, academic success, and social-emotional health.
Here at Anderson Pediatric Therapy Services, we recognize the essential work of our audiologists and SLPs in improving children's ability to communicate, which is crucial for confidence and interaction.

How and Why to Test a Sea Turtle’s Hearing:

Recently, Duke University’s Marine Lab documented fascinating news on Kemp’s ridley sea turtles, a critically endangered species. These are also the smallest sea turtles in the world. Most turtles, including Kemp’s ridley sea turtles, have far better hearing in low frequencies. Low-frequency noise dominates their modern coastal water habitat.
