Chronic pain is a complex condition that extends beyond physical symptoms, often also impacting a patient psychologically. At Ubylee, we use a multimodal approach, combining a team of medical doctors, physical therapists, occupational therapists and psychologists to treat chronic pain. By using this collaborative approach to develop individualized treatment plans, we can help patients improve their pain control, reduce their reliance on opioids, and improve their quality of life and physical function.

As we continue Hand Therapy Week, today we’re highlighting another treatment technique. Casting Motion to Mobilize Stiffness (CMMS) uses plaster casts to hold selected joints in the best position while allowing other joints to move in a specific way. This helps guide movement, improve flexibility, and restore better hand function.

Every hand, injury, and patient is unique. Through individualized treatment plans and specialized techniques, hand therapists help patients recover function, regain independence, and improve their overall quality of life.

We are proud to be part of a profession dedicated to restoring motion, reducing pain, and helping people get back to doing what matters most.

Hand therapy is more than exercises - it is a specialized field that combines clinical expertise, creativity, and evidence-based treatment techniques to help patients regain function and return to the activities they love. During Hand Therapy Week, we’re highlighting just a few of the innovative interventions used to treat upper extremity injuries and conditions:

• Kinesio Taping can be used to support muscles, improve movement patterns, reduce swelling, and assist with nerve-related symptoms while allowing patients to remain active.

• Relative Motion Orthosis (RMO) are custom-fabricated splints that use the body’s own anatomy to improve tendon movement, protect healing structures, and restore motion following tendon injuries and surgeries.

Happy Hand Therapy Week!
This week, we are especially grateful for having had the opportunity to attend and present at the Texas Annual Educational Conference alongside some of the most respected and world-renowned leaders in hand surgery and hand therapy in April of this year. Sharing knowledge, learning from experts in the field, and collaborating with colleagues who are passionate about advancing patient care is both humbling and inspiring.
As hand therapists, we have the privilege of helping people regain function, independence, and confidence after injury, illness, or surgery. Whether it’s returning to work, caring for loved ones, pursuing hobbies, or simply performing everyday tasks, restoring hand function can have a profound impact on quality of life.
Thank you to the patients who trust us with their care and to the mentors, colleagues, and healthcare professionals who continue to push our field forward. Here’s to a profession dedicated to helping people get back to doing the things that matter most.
