I find this image quite intriguing. Couldn't be easier to remember which food is good for which organ.
Carrots benefit your eyes primarily because they are rich in beta-carotene, an antioxidant that the body converts into Vitamin A. This essential nutrient maintains a clear cornea, protects cellular health, and allows you to see in low-light conditions.
Walnuts are the ultimate "brain food," packed with plant-based omega-3s, antioxidants, and polyphenols. Consuming a handful (about 1.5 ounces or 7–11 walnuts) daily promotes neuron health, lowers oxidative stress and brain inflammation, improves working memory, and speeds up reaction times.
Ginger is a natural powerhouse for digestive health. Driven by active compounds like gingerol, it accelerates stomach emptying, combats nausea, and relieves gas and bloating. It works directly on your gut to soothe discomfort safely and effectively.
Figs (especially Ficus carica extract and leaves) support testicular health by providing antioxidants (flavonoids, vitamin C) that protect s***m DNA from oxidative damage. They also supply essential minerals like zinc, which aids in testosterone production, and potassium, which supports the healthy blood flow necessary for reproductive functions.
Tomatoes for heart health due to two key nutrients that have a big impact on heart health: lycopene and potassium.
Lycopene is a chemical that gives a tomato its red color and is also a powerful antioxidant, a type of substance that helps keep cells from becoming damaged. Some research shows that lycopene may lower LDL, or “bad” cholesterol, and keep blood from clotting, which lowers stroke risk.
Potassium is a mineral that can help lower blood pressure by taking some of the sodium out of your body, and by relaxing the walls of your blood vessels.
Kidney beans are rich in vitamin B, fiber, and several minerals that cleanse the kidney. They boost the urinary tract function and prevent the risk of frequently occurring urinary tract infections.
Citrus fruits benefit breast health primarily by reducing the risk of breast cancer through high concentrations of antioxidants, vitamins, and bioactive compounds like flavonoids and limonoids. Interesting, the most beneficial part of the citrus is what we throw away. The majority of the benefits are in the citrus peel and the pith.
Grapes benefit lung health primarily by fighting oxidative stress and reducing airway inflammation, which helps protect lung tissue from pollutants, smoke, and age-related decline.
Sweet potatoes support pancreas health primarily by stabilizing blood sugar levels, reducing inflammation, and providing high levels of protective antioxidants. As a nutrient-dense, low-glycemic food, they reduce the workload on the pancreas, which is responsible for insulin production and glucose regulation.
Avocados benefit the uterus by supporting a healthy endometrial lining, regulating reproductive hormones, and reducing inflammatory pain. Their rich nutritional profile delivers specific advantages for female reproductive and uterine health.

Resistant starch is a type of carbohydrate that bypasses digestion in the small intestine and ferments in the colon. It functions like a prebiotic, feeding healthy gut bacteria, improving insulin sensitivity, and helps with the sense of keeping you full.
Top Health Benefits Better Blood Sugar Control: Because it resists digestion, it doesn't spike blood glucose. It has been shown to improve insulin sensitivity and lower the risk of type 2 diabetes.
Improved Gut Health: Fermentation in the large intestine produces short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs), like butyrate, which reduces inflammation and supports a healthy colon, helping with a condition called leaky gut. Butyrate, an important fuel for the colon, might possibly protect against colon cancer. Resistant starches function similarly to fiber by resisting digestion.
Weight Management: It increases satiety (the feeling of fullness) and reduces overall appetite, which can aid in weight loss.
Heart Health: Research shows it may help lower LDL ("bad") cholesterol and reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.
Enhanced Nutrient Absorption: It improves the bioavailability and absorption of essential minerals like calcium, magnesium, and iron.
Where to Find It: To incorporate more resistant starch into your meals, consider adding these whole, plant-based foods to your diet: Legumes: Lentils, chickpeas, and black beans. Grains: Oats, barley, and sorghum.
Produce: Unripe (green) bananas, green plantains, and sunchokes (Jerusalem artichokes).
Pro-Tip: The Cooling Method. You can actually create resistant starch in common starchy foods through a process called retrogradation. When you cook and then cool foods like potatoes, rice, or pasta, the starch molecules crystallize and become resistant to digestion. This means cold potato salad or reheated leftover rice will have a much lower impact on your blood sugar than when eaten fresh and hot.
It's summertime, enjoy that potato or pasta salad without guilt!

The liver is an essential organ, performing over 500 critical functions, including the regulation of blood chemicals, bile production, drug metabolism, blood clotting control, and the breakdown, regulation, and synthesis of nutrients, glucose and hormonal clearance. The liver is a central regulator of hormones, responsible for metabolizing, activating, and breaking down hormones like estrogen, thyroid hormones, and cortisol, while producing binding proteins. When liver function is impaired, it cannot effectively process these hormones, leading to imbalances, such as high estrogen levels (estrogen dominance), fatigue, and issues with metabolism.
Function of the liver: Filtering and removing toxins and waste products from the blood.
Metabolizing nutrients by converting nutrients from your food into essential blood components.
Storing vitamins and minerals by holding onto crucial vitamins and minerals for later use.
Producing bile, which helps with digestion.
Processing glucose by removing it from your bloodstream and storing it as glycogen for use later on.
Regulating amino acids for the production of proteins.
Regulating blood clotting by producing proteins necessary for blood to clot.
Detoxifying chemicals by breaking down potentially harmful chemicals the body intakes. Folks, in today's toxic environment the liver is heavily taxed.
Regulating cholesterol by converting excess cholesterol into bile acids so it can be eliminated from your body.
Supporting immune function by removing bacteria from the blood, supporting the immune system.

Unhealthy lifestyle habits, illnesses, and environmental factors that can hurt your liver:
Drinking Too Much Alcohol: Consuming a lot of alcoholic beverages can severely harm your liver by causing conditions like alcoholic liver disease and cirrhosis, a condition when the liver slowly deteriorates and is unable to function normally.
Eating Unhealthy Foods: A high-caloric diet filled with unhealthy fats, sugars, and processed foods may lead to liver problems such as fatty liver disease.
Being Inactive: Not getting enough exercise can increase your risk of developing liver diseases.
Being Overweight: Carrying extra weight, especially around your waist, can harm your liver.
Smoking: Using to***co products can increase the chance of getting liver cancer and fatty liver disease.
Exposure to Chemicals: Coming into contact with harmful chemicals like cleaning supplies and pesticides can damage your liver.
Viral Infections: Hepatitis viruses like hepatitis A, B, C, D, and E can inflame, infect, and damage your liver.
Medications: Certain medications, such as NSAIDs, antibiotics, antiepileptics, statins, antifungals, immunosuppressants, and methotrexate, which are used to treat cancer and autoimmune diseases, can be toxic to the liver.
Genetic Conditions: Some liver issues can be passed down in families due to genetics, including hemochromatosis, Gilbert's Syndrome, and Alpha-1 Antitrypsin deficiency.
Autoimmune Diseases: Sometimes, the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks the liver, causing damage. These autoimmune liver diseases include autoimmune hepatitis, primary biliary cholangitis, and primary sclerosing cholangitis.
Symptoms of liver damage may present as: a swollen abdomen, tenderness under the right anterior rib cage area, yellowing of the skin and/or eyeballs, itchy skin, changes in the urine, changes in the stool, (yellow, clay, tan colored stool), loss of appetite, water retention, weight gain or loss, chronic fatigue, bruising easily, mental fog spider like blood vessels on the skin.

As you look at the list of health issues listed what would you consider the culprit for the symptoms?
It's something that we are exposed to daily, impossible to completely avoid and is here to stay.
Microplastics! I like the historical comparison of the Ice Age, the Stone Age, the Dark Ages and now the Microplastic Age.
Microplastics get embedded into all the tissues of the body creating havoc on our health.
There are a number of ingredients that help pull the microplastics out of the body. I have products at the office that can help.
If you aren't getting anywhere in your health journey considering microplastic remediation might be the missing block to health improvement.

Poor Cholesterol! It has been vilified as the cause of many health problems but in reality, it is important and vital to health. An average of 75% of the cholesterol circulating in the body is made in the liver. It is the building block of every cell which is made up of a phosphoLIPID. Cholesterol breaks down via an enzyme to make pregnenolone, the master hormone that breaks down to make cortisol, DHEA, aldosterone, the s*x hormones: estrogen, progesterone and testosterone.
If a woman's cholesterol levels fall below 150, she will stop having a cycle, due to not having enough of the building blocks to make the s*x hormones from cholesterol.
I read recently that 75% of heart attack victim had normal cholesterol. (this image shows 50%).
Often times patients develop muscle pain from taking stains. A type of pain that makes one feel sore all over the body, like that feeling of coming down with the flu type of soreness.
Seldom do I hear a patient tell me that the prescribing doctor recommended that they take CoQ10 along with the cholesterol medication. CoQ10 is a major antioxidant that protects the heart.
Mental decline has been documented as a side effect of taking statins.
I have had great results in lowering cholesterol in most patients by reducing inflammation. Inflammation is the driver for arterial plaquing in the arteries and so many other health conditions.
It's a different paradigm then what most medical doctors have been taught by their pharmaceutical reps. If the pharmaceutical industry gets their way, the "norm" for cholesterol will become 150. Back in the 1960's the norm was 300. The original research in the 1960's was flawed to show the benefits of statins. I often hear from medical doctors that the "scientific studies" need to prove or validate recommendations made. I ask for the independent study that shows no biases or personal gains. That discussion is for another day...

Microplastics (MP's) are almost impossible to avoid. They are everywhere! However, there are natural binders that can impact the amount of MP's in the body.
Fiber: the average American gets about 14 grams of fiber per day. The recommended amount is 25-35 grams per day. Regular, daily bowel movements will help eliminate MP's. Supplementing with psyllium can help get the recommended amount of daily fiber.
Probiotics: play a huge role in the ability of the body to break down MP's. Yogurt, kefir, sauerkraut, kimchi are great sources of probiotics. Supplementing with saccharomyces Boulardii can have an impact on binding MP's.
A healthy gut lining will make it difficult for MP's to get absorbed into the gut lining. Oats, barley, quinoa, and wheat bran provide both soluble and insoluble fiber. Wheat bran especially offers porous structures ideal for binding toxins. Aim for organic grains to avoid the problems posed by round-up (glyphosate).
Apples, pears, berries, oranges, and bananas are fiber-rich and packed with antioxidants. The soluble pectins in fruits ferment into short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) that boost gut health.
Broccoli, Brussels sprouts, leafy greens, carrots, and sweet potatoes deliver a range of fibers that nourish your microbiome.
Lentils, chickpeas, beans, and peas are fiber powerhouses that enhance microbiome diversity and produce anti-inflammatory short chain fatty acids.
Chia seeds, flaxseeds, h**p seeds, and almonds add fiber, healthy fats, and micronutrients for gut and systemic health.
Okra & Fenugreek: These are considered the most effective plant-based materials for removing microplastics (up to 90%), particularly when used as a mixture.
Chlorella: helps bind MP's. Its best taken on an empty stomach.
Zeolite or activated charcoal, as these nutrients move through the digestive track they are collecting the toxins. Be aware that activated charcoal might turn your stool black.
Anit-oxidants: turmeric, olive leaf extract, green tea leaf extract, black seed oil, burdock, rishi mushrooms, diathermanous earth, milk thistle all help to bind the MP's.
Humic and fulvic acids exhibit high adsorption affinities to various microplastics, particularly polyolefins like polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE).
If you need help navigating the microplastic removal, give the office a call and we will get you on the path to better health.
This list is not inclusive of all microplastic binding products.

If you want to understand the impact of microplastics on your health, please watch the Netflix movie, "The Plastic Detox".
Humans consume roughly 5 grams of microplastics weekly—about a credit card's worth—through food, water, and air. These particles (1–5000 m) accumulate in body tissues, including the gut, liver, kidneys, and blood. Recent studies even suggest substantial amounts (up to 7g) exist in human brains, with concentrations increasing over time.
Microplastics are found in bottled water, seafood, table salt, and indoor air. Look at your cutting boards, cooking utensils, storage containers, mixing bowls. Just about every health and beauty aid comes in a plastic container. These contaminants are linked to potential health issues, including cell damage, inflammation, oxidative stress, and potential cancer risks. The movie The Plastic Detox focuses on fertility.
There are many natural microplastic chelators that might lower the burden of microplastics.

Once again, nature provides us with ingredients to help us feel better.
When using essential oils topically it's best to use with a carrier oil to prevent skin irritation.
If taking coconut oil please start with a small amount, i.e., 1/2 to 1 teaspoon. Too much at the start can have a cleansing effect of your GI track unless that's the benefit you are looking for.
Stimulating the gallbladder with lemon oil could benefit so many people. The Standard American Diet has a tendency to cause the bile to become sludge=gallbladder issues.
It is recommended that one take a castor oil saturated cotton ball to the belly button covered with a bandage at bedtime to help with regularity. Best if one rubs the castor oil around the belly button to increase the effectiveness of the castor oil.
Tree tea oil on the scalp can help prevent head lice infestation for school ages children. Some folks add a few drops to the shampoo. Can't hurt, might help.
Peppermint oil rubbed at the upper belly can help with indigestion and when rubbed at the base of the skull can help with a migraine.
Once you become familiar with; the oils you can use them to your advantage.
