🚨Safety Announcement🚨

On the morning of July 20th, Ankeny Medics were dispatched for a motorcycle accident on I-35 North bound. Ambulance 123 pulled behind 2 motorcycles on the right side shoulder of I-35 when a semi trailer side swiped the ambulance just before the driver was going to get out, causing significant damage to the ambulance. Most importantly, our fire medics were not injured.

Motor Vehicle Crashes are the #2 leading cause for On Duty Firefighter Fatalities each year, with over 30,000 crashes average in the U.S.

Please remember to always move over to the right (if possible) when you see first responders on the streets with lights/sirens on but also remember to move over a lane when you see ANY vehicles along the interstate, ESPECIALLY FIRST RESPONDERS!
