So excited to partner with Pathfinder Enrichment Center to bring this hands-on botanical experience to the community! The first Tea Lab is October 19, with new seasonal experiences to follow in November and December.

We’re excited to bring in Holistic Gatherer to Pathfinder for a hands-on botanical experience!

Kids ages 9–12 will explore real herbs, fruits, flowers & spices, experiment with flavors, and create their very own herbal tea blend to take home!

Field Mushroom 🍄
Agaricus campestris var. campestris

Found these beautiful mushrooms growing wild today. Field mushrooms are one of those simple reminders that there is always something interesting growing right beneath our feet if we slow down enough to notice it.

Color: Creamy white to pale tan caps with gills that begin pink and deepen to dark chocolate brown as the mushroom matures.

Culinary Use: Young field mushrooms are considered the best for cooking and can be sautéed, grilled, added to soups and sauces, or cooked into omelets and other savory dishes. As they mature and the gills become very dark, they can become softer and lose some of their culinary quality. The ones pictured are more mature and past their ideal culinary stage.

Common Look-Alike: Agaricus arvensis (Horse Mushroom), another edible Agaricus species, can look similar.

Toxic Look-Alike: Agaricus xanthodermus (Yellow Stainer) can also resemble edible Agaricus mushrooms but is toxic and can cause significant gastrointestinal illness.

Important: Never eat a wild mushroom based on a photo or online identification alone. Similar-looking Agaricus species can be difficult to distinguish, including toxic species. Always have wild mushrooms positively identified by an experienced local expert before consuming them.

Holistic living does not have to begin in a garden...it can begin in the produce aisle. 🍍 Pineapple, yellow dragon fruit, starfruit, and spaghetti squash offer a colorful way to explore new flavors and add more variety to everyday meals.

Animals can teach us something. All we have to do is observe ♥️💯 if you haven't read this article. You need to.

I will add that, of course, the news media takes it to 'being related to primates' and now to each their own on the beliefs they have - HOWEVER all wildlife self medicates, animals have been living and thriving on this earth without the use of modern medicine for THOUSANDS of years. As a species, all we need to do is observe the wildlife we share this earth with and stop thinking we know everything and that big pharma has our best interests at heart.
