Some of my favorite summer flowers are Strawflowers. They dry really well and already seem dry when they’re alive. As a result, they stay dried and beautiful for a long time in a vase in your house! They symbolize remembrance and immortality, to help us remember those that pass on. 🌼🌼🌼

The blackberries are huge this year! I recently discovered that blackberries are one of the best sources of ellagic acid; a strong antioxidant, antiviral, anti inflammatory, and protective to nerves, liver, heart.. even contain wound healing capabilities. Often we forget the power plants have! Also, there is some sort of melon growing in my garden.. can’t wait to find out what it is! 🍈🪏👩🏽‍🌾

Finding hot springs in the forest is definitely one of the most relaxing things. This spring was very hot, you can see the steam, but thankfully someone added a way so that cold creek water could run in and balance it out. Nature is healing 💦💦💦

We started growing a unique variety of basil called ‘Pesto Perpetuo’ that I knew I needed to make into pesto! It has a white lining on the light green leaves, and a sweet basil with a lemon kick for flavor. Our first round of fresh garlic was harvested a few weeks ago and dried so I knew it was time! This small group of boysenberries and blackberries is the beginning of this year’s harvest.. hopefully a lot more to come! On an interesting note: This basil is in the same Ocimum family as Holy Basil which has the benefit of calming the HPA access and bringing focus and a balance of heart and mind. Happy Summer gardening 🌱

Harvesting some herbal flowers! The more I harvest the more will grow so I’m encouraging growth to get more medicine. When a plant puts out seeds, it often stops producing because it is intelligent and knows its offspring will continue the cycle. Today I harvested echinacea, yarrow leaves and flowers and calendula. The second photo is a calendula flower that looks like 2 merged together, and I’ve never seen this before so I thought I would share! Happy harvesting!🌼

Hollyhock flowers come back yearly, and these ones were growing in the garden last year too. In herbal form, the roots work similarly to a mallow since they’re mucilaginous and can heal GI tissue. I love the flower essence which is meant to help us remove barriers in relationships that keep us from trust. Trust is one of those foundational concepts that solidifies a connection. Harvest season begins! Here we have some calendula blossoms freshly dried, dried chive blossoms for seeds, and of course, fresh strawberries! I wish everyone a good harvest this year; and if you don’t grow your own, find some delicious herbs and produce at a farmers market! 🌼🍓
