The weather is heating up, and people are starting to be outside more! Remember to take care of your skin this summer!

According to MVHC's Chief Medical Officer Dr. Roberts, "Mineral based sunblock is the best, as it provides physical barrier to UV rays. Use sunblock with a high SPF level, like SPF 50. For young children, remember to apply and reapply, as swimming and toweling off can remove this sunblock.

Be sure to wear SPF protective clothing and accessories like sunglasses and hats. Try to keep in the shade when possible, and remember, prevention is key! Nothing can prevent skin damage that has already occurred due to sun damage."

Menopause is a natural part of aging for women, and marks the end of a woman's reproductive years, when her ovaries stop producing reproductive hormones. Menopause typically happens around the age of 52, and occurs when a woman goes over 12 consecutive months without having a period.

There are three stages of menopause. Perimenopause is the period of time when you begin transitioning into menopause, and this phase can take anywhere from a few months to 10 years. Menopause can happen naturally, or can sometimes be triggered by a surgery or medical treatment like chemotherapy. And finally, postmenopause is the phase you will stay in for the rest of your life after menopause happens. Typically, symptoms ease up or go away in this phase, but it can still take a few years.

If you have any or multiple of these symptoms, you may be transitioning into or in menopause.

Yesterday, our President and CEO, Julie DiRossi-King, joined Jeff Britton, CEO of Ohio Hills Health Centers; Dan Atkinson, CEO of Muskingum Valley Health Centers; Lisa Evangelista, CEO of Fairfield Community Health Center; and Kay Wilson, Director of Marketing and Development at Lower Lights Health, for a productive conversation with Congressman Troy Balderson's office.

Together, we discussed protecting 340B, strengthening the healthcare workforce, improving Medicare policies, advancing Food is Medicine initiatives, and supporting the Community Health Center Caucus—all aimed at ensuring Ohioans can access the care they need close to home.

Thank you to Lucie Flowers and Congressman Balderson's team for the thoughtful discussion and continued support of Ohio's Community Health Centers.
