We are excited to welcome Cierra Harris, APRN, FNP-C to Floyd County Rural Health!

Cierra earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2020 and completed her Master of Science in Nursing with a specialization in Family Practice in 2025. She is board-certified through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) and is dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality care to patients of all ages.

A proud resident of Knott County, Cierra is passionate about serving the people of Eastern Kentucky and improving the health of the communities she calls home.

We are excited for our patients to get to know her and experience the exceptional care she provides. 💙

🔥 Heat Wave Expected Across Eastern Kentucky This Week 🔥

According to WYMT First Alert Weather, hot and humid conditions will dominate the region this week, with afternoon temperatures climbing into the mid-90s and heat index values expected to exceed 100°F in many areas. (https://www.wymt.com⁠)

🌞 Protect yourself and your family:
💧 Drink plenty of water—even if you don’t feel thirsty.
🧢 Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing and seek shade whenever possible.
⏰ Limit strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day (10 AM–4 PM).
🚗 Never leave children, older adults, or pets in a parked vehicle.
👵 Check on elderly neighbors, family members, and anyone without reliable air conditioning.

⚠️ Know the warning signs of heat-related illness:
• Heavy sweating or hot, dry skin
• Dizziness or fainting
• Headache
• Nausea or vomiting
• Muscle cramps
• Confusion or difficulty waking up

If you experience severe symptoms or suspect heat stroke, call 911 immediately.
