The average pediatrician visit lasts 15 minutes. Well checks may or may not be covered by private insurance, depending on the plan. Insurers usually allot 10-15 minutes to sick visits, depending on the plan coverage. We give all of our patients AT LEAST 30 minutes. Chronic or complex sick visits are 60 minutes face to face with a provider. It’s no wonder we provide so many second, third and fourth opinions and get to the root cause of so many issues during these extended appointments. If you’re looking for a truly holistic pediatric provider, think outside the insurance box. You’ll find much more personalized care this way.

Did you know that all of our providers have been recognized by DFWChild year after year for excellence in patient care, sometimes in multiple categories?! Patient recommendations are the best feedback we could possibly get and we're so thankful for our precious families.

Do you ever feel rushed through your child’s appointments? Have there been issues with sleep, behavior, etc that popped into your mind during a visit for a well check? Were you told that you needed to make a separate sick appointment to discuss that issue? Insurance reimbursement forces providers to bill sick and well appointments differently. We aren’t limited by insurance regulations so we can address concerns as they arise, as it should be.

In continuance of our series addressing common questions, let’s explore answers to questions that may not be asked. Parents are often searching for something they can’t quite verbalize. They want medical autonomy. They want freedom from judgement for their choices. They want access to truly holistic care but also western medicine when it’s truly needed. Parents want a provider with a depth of knowledge to offer the full spectrum of care AND the judgement to guide true informed consent. They want a natural approach but also the safety net of appropriately used western medicine. All of our practitioners are trained to care for the most complex cases but we love the day to day of routine well checks and anticipatory guidance. Michelle and Jana have cared for the sickest of the sick in Neonatal ICU and Jason can run an urgent care single handedly. We’re a truly unique practice able to support your child through the day to day and the most complex issues.

Another common question we receive is regarding access to providers and modes of communication. All of our patients have our direct cell phone numbers. Anyone who emails, calls or texts our practice communicates directly with one of our NPs. Even our beloved virtual assistant Cynthia is a phenomenal PNP. Your provider can monitor the phones, fax and email to address your needs more efficiently. No apps. No portals. No waiting days for a call back. No unlicensed personnel answering your questions. Just clear, personal, open and timely communication!

We get lots of questions from new patients that revolve around the central themes of practice structure (insurance vs cash pay, etc) and patient care (holistic vs western treatments, etc). We’re going to begin a series here to answer those questions and others.

𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭: 𝐃𝐨 𝐰𝐞 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞?
In order to protect our patients’ privacy and medical freedom, we do not contract directly with insurance. We do work with healthshares and FSA/HSA. Insurers only cover a small fraction of the time we actually spend with our patients. Ever feel rushed through your appointments in an insurance practice? That’s why. Insurers make more money by not covering care or offering minimal reimbursement. Insurance forces providers to see more patients in less time. We spend at least 30 min with every patient. Some appointments are 60-120 minutes! Insurance does not support that level of care and depth of root cause investigation. The cash pay model removes the middle man and gives both the provider and patient freedom to pursue the plan of care they mutually decide is best.

Constipation can often be linked to low fiber, processed foods, food intolerances, not enough fluids, or decreased activity. If you’ve addressed these issues without improvement or your child has concurrent problems such as asthma, eczema or allergies, there may be deeper factors at play. We often find underlying imbalances in the gut and resolve them rather than simply giving laxatives. We’re constipation experts here at Wonderfully Made and would love to help things move along!

It’s spring in Texas and that means severe weather and possibly worse… allergies. Sneezing, itchy eyes and runny noses aren’t contagious, but they can make sleep and school tough. Try washing hair and clothes after outdoor play and use air filters to decrease indoor air pollution. Have you noticed multiple members of your family with eczema, asthma AND allergies? These conditions are called The Atopic Triad and are often familial. This means that if parents have these issues, we will be on the lookout for them in kids. If allergies are making daily life a struggle, let’s create a plan so your child can breathe—and play—freely again. There are often diet and gut issues contributing to allergies. We can help get to the bottom of this, often without painful testing. Root cause intervention is always preferable to years of shots, right? 🍂🌿

Check out this amazing review that just came in for Jason, FNP!!

My name is Ryan and on April 16th, 2026 my wife and I took our two children (daughter 16) (son 10) to their wellness appointment at Wonderfully Made Wellness Sanctuary. This visit was our first time to see Jason Uche, FNP-C. We heard good things about Jason, so we were excited about the visit. Right off the bat, Jason made us feel welcomed. He is very kind and approachable. His calm demeanor helped our entire family feel comfortable and at ease. He is very organized and thorough. We discussed the medical history of each child individually, and went over our current concerns. He made sure to cover everything we discussed. As we moved through the appointment he was really good about asking relevant questions and giving us simple tips on how to address some of our concerns. Jason is extremely knowledgeable and covers a wide range of medical topics. His background and education was really illuminated during the visit. Before we were seen, I was a little nervous about some of our children's complex concerns sending us down a rabbit hole of exams, procedures and expenses. However, something that stood out to me is that Jason is very practical. He focuses on starting out his patients "foundationally." In other words, he addresses core problems like inflammation in the body, underlying root causes and conditions in our children. He didn't immediately send us down this intimidating path of worry and expense. He provided solid holistic medical solutions that can make a big impact on my family's health and well being. At our next visit he will be able to track our progress and if we need to make adjustments. He will provide a current protocol. I loved his attention to detail, warm and approachable personality, medical background and expertise. He was very kind to my children which made all the difference for me. My daughter, who is by nature the more meek and reserved child, opened up to him and they had a great conversation in the room. My son, who is very outgoing, felt very comfortable talking to him and asking a multitude of questions. Jason, being very kind and patient, answered all of our questions. When we left Wonderfully Made, we felt very, very good about the visit and we had a solid plan to get my kids where they need to be in their health, wellness and development. I strongly recommend Jason Uche, FNP-C to advocate over your children's health.
