Some weekends change the way you see a face, and some weekend transform the way you treat it… this weekend was both!

This past weekend, I traveled to New York City to train with Dr. Arthur Swift, one of the most respected educators in aesthetic medicine. His work on facial proportion and balance has shaped how injectors around the world approach their craft.

Learning from him in person for the THIRD time was a privilege!! The weekend was spent studying the principles behind beautiful, natural results: harmony, proportion and the restraint to know exactly how much is enough. It confirmed what we have always believed, that the best work is the work no one can point to.

I was honored to also learn from two outstanding global educator, Dr. Jani van Logan and Dr.Kyu-Ho Yi.  Their wealth of bio-regenerative treatment knowledge has already impacted by practice since my return.

We are a medical clinic, and we take our own education as seriously as your care. Everything we learned in that room comes home to our consultations, our treatment plans and the chair.

One of the most common things I hear in consultation and one of the most important conversations I have before anyone makes a treatment decision based on something they saw online.

Undereye bags and tox. Let’s clear this up completely.
Tox relaxes muscle. And there is a very specific, very carefully placed application of tox in the lower lid relaxing the orbicularis oculi that can create a subtle opening of the eye and softening of a fine line or two beneath it. In the right candidate, with conservative dosing and precise placement, it is a beautiful refinement.

But undereye bags? The puffy, rounded fullness that sits beneath the eye and casts a shadow across the face? That is almost never a muscle problem. That is herniated orbital fat — fat that has pushed forward through a weakening orbital septum over time. And tox does not touch fat. It does not address structure. It cannot lift or reposition tissue that has descended.
In fact, tox placed too aggressively in the lower lid of the wrong candidate can weaken the muscle support beneath the eye and make the bag appear more prominent. Which is the exact opposite of what anyone came in hoping for.

Some undereye concerns respond beautifully to filler addressing the hollow around the bag to reduce shadowing and improve overall appearance. Some are better served by a referral to an oculoplastic surgeon for a conversation about lower blepharoplasty. And some simply require an honest conversation about what is and is not possible without surgery.

The injector who tells you the truth before you spend your money is the one worth trusting. 🤍

This is what a full face approach looks like on a male patient. And the result says everything.
