is a fellowship-trained and ABOS board-certified hip and knee replacement surgeon who specializes in minimally invasive, complex, and revision surgery. Dr. Gebhart was born and raised in Western Pennsylvania on his familyโs dairy farm in New Castle. After graduating from Mohawk Area High School, he attended Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania where he received his Bachelors of Science in Exer
cise Science with a minor in Chemistry. During his time at Slippery Rock, he was a member of the Honors Program and awarded the Fred and Mary Roby Scholarship, Brooker Scholarship, and Honors Program Scholarship. He was named a Presidential Scholar and graduated Summa cm laude with a 4.0 cumulative GPA. Dr. Gebhart went on to attend Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. During his time at Case Western, he was awarded the Deanโs Scholarship for academic achievement and the William D. He was inducted into the AOA Medical Honor Society. Dr. Gebhart stayed at Case Western Reserve University to complete his residency training in orthopaedic surgery. He received the American Orthopaedic Association Resident Leadership Award as an emerging leader in the field of orthopaedics. He was also a recipient of the Mid-America Orthopaedic Association Education Grant. Dr. Gebhart then completed fellowship training in Adult Hip and Knee Reconstruction, Hip Preservation and Resurfacing at Washington University in St. Louis under the mentorship of orthopaedic pioneers, Drs. Robert Barrack, M.D., John Clohisy, M.D., and Ryan Nunley, M.D. He has over 25 peer-reviewed publications in Orthopaedic literature in journals that include the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, the Journal of Arthroplasty, Arthroscopy, the American Journal of Sports Medicine, and Hip International. His research work has been presented at the local, national, and international level on more than 50 occasions at conferences that include the annual meetings of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Mid-America Orthopaedic Association, and European Pediatric Orthopaedic Society in Rome, Italy; Marseille, France; and Munich, Germany. Dr. Gebhart returned to Western Pennsylvania in 2019 to join Orthopaedic Associates of Meadville at Meadville Medical Center as a staff surgeon specializing in technology assisted, minimally invasive hip and knee replacement, muscle sparing anterior hip replacement, partial knee replacement, revision total hip and total knee replacement, and fracture care. During his first year of practice, he was the recipient of the 2020 Meadville Medical Center Doctor of the Year. He was also inducted into the Mohawk High School Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame. Dr. Gebhart is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons. He resides in Meadville with his wife, three children, and two dogs. He enjoys the outdoors, hunting, fishing, working out, and Pittsburgh sports.
