Big things start small 💡 A six-week capstone project built by an occupational therapy student at Touro University of Nevada is now expanding to reach adults with Down syndrome nationwide.

The "Empower" program, created at GiGi's Playhouse Las Vegas, walks participants through weekly sessions on self-care, personal hygiene, leisure, and self-advocacy — real, practical skills that build confidence and independence. It worked so well that GiGi's Playhouse is now adopting it across all 62+ of their locations in the U.S. and Mexico.

It's proof that meaningful change for the IDD community doesn't always start with a big institution — sometimes it starts with one person seeing a need and building something to meet it. At IMPACT of Oregon, we love seeing programs like this grow. 🧡
