This National Su***de Prevention Week, reach out. And if someone tells you they’re struggling, listen and help them connect with support. Some of the hardest beliefs we carry about ourselves didn’t start with us.

Too sensitive. Difficult. Selfish. Weak. The responsible one. The problem.

Repeat a description long enough-whether it comes from your own voice or the voices of others-and it can begin to feel like identity.

One of the quiet powers of therapy is learning to step outside those inherited definitions and ask:

What is actually true about me?

Quite often, healing is not becoming someone new. It’s returning to yourself.

A day off doesn’t need a to-do list. You don’t have to clean the whole house, catch up on every errand, answer those emails, and somehow become a new person by Tuesday. Rest can look like sleeping in. Sitting outside. Watching something you’ve already seen five times. Doing absolutely nothing useful for a while. If you have time to slow down this Labor Day, you’re allowed to actually use it that way. Rest doesn’t need to be earned first.

Take the rest if you can.

Back to school means busy schedules are back, too. Between practice, homework, games, and everything else, kids and parents can both feel stretched thin. Make room for rest, check-ins, and support when you need it.

Your schedule is already full. Therapy shouldn’t require rearranging your entire life to make it work. The time, format, therapist fit, and how comfortable you feel all matter. Because support is a lot easier to keep showing up for when it actually works with your life. Finding what works for you might take some adjusting. That’s okay. Therapy is supposed to support your life, not become another thing making it harder.

As the seasons change, our routines often do too. Maybe you're protecting your mental health by saying no a little more often. Taking a real lunch break. Going to bed earlier. Scheduling therapy. Spending less time on your phone. Or simply admitting when you're overwhelmed. Whatever it looks like for you, we'd love to hear it. Fill in the blank: ""This fall, I'm protecting my mental health by _______."" Share your answer in the comments, you might inspire someone else to do the same.

Ellie is here to support your mental health as the seasons change. Find a therapist in your area or online at https://bit.ly/4vriZFD

The car ride home can shape how young athletes remember their season. When kids hear they're valued for their effort, growth, and love of the game-not just the scoreboard-they're more likely to build confidence and enjoy playing. A few simple words can go a long way.

There’s no age limit on needing a fresh start.

In 2025, about 1 in 5 teens experienced moderate or severe anxiety symptoms, while about 1 in 5 adults experienced a mental illness.

But “beginning again” doesn’t have to mean reinventing your life.

It can mean having the conversation. Setting the boundary. Breaking an old pattern. Asking for help a little sooner this time.

Whether you’re 15 or 50, sometimes the bravest thing you can do is decide that something can be different.

You’re allowed to begin again.

is here when you’re ready: https://bit.ly/EllieMedfordMA
