Town of Medicine Bow Incorporated June 26, 1909, Medicine Bow began as a tie hack town, floating ties down the Bow River for Union Pacific Railroad.

Owen Wister made the town famous in his novel "The Virginian," which is considered the forerunner of all western novels.

Bow Days kicks off today!! Community BBQ starts at 6pm today, Friday at the Community Hall - Dinner for $5, hamburgers, hotdogs, brats and all the sides!! On Saturday there will be the parade at 9am, and vendors from
9:30am to 2pm. There will also be childrens games, adult contests, and the Fast Draw Competition! ...Don't forget to come cream the Mayor with a pie :)

The 2010 Medicine Bow Fire Truck arrived January 30, 2010. The Fire Department held a barbecue at the site of their new Fire Hall, which will be renovated this spring. Thanks to all the sponsors of the event, everyone had plenty to eat and a great time
