When I first trained in counseling 50 years ago, I was told if we met clients with warmth, empathy and unconditional positive regard, they would get better no matter what approached we used. Functional MRI's have now shown that when a trauma or trauma memory is held with deep resonant empathy the emotions become regulated and it is transformed into Life Experience or Wisdom.
