Two weeks into massage school, and one thing has completely surprised me.

Massage feels a lot like hula dancing.

Not because they look alike, but because they feel alike. They both embrace body mechanics, balance, control, and moving your whole body, not just your hands… Flow. 🌊

And yes…I joked that I had sweat dripping off me. 😂 I wasn’t actually raining on anyone. I just realized my hairline was working as hard as the rest of me! If I ever become that kind of massage therapist, I promise I’ll hide a sweatband under my lei poʻo (flower crown). 🌺🌸🌺🌸😆

I can already tell this journey is going to transform me.

My biggest takeaway from day one of massage school is that I’m glad I didn’t let my mind talk me out of trying, even when I thought there was only a 50% chance my body, with all its physical issues, could do it.

We do a really good job of protecting ourselves and holding ourselves back. Don’t. Go after that thing. You’d rather be proved wrong than always wonder what you might have missed.

It’s never too late to bolt on your dream. Let’s rock this Monday! I’m going back to school at 57 to add something to my career that was missing. Find whatever joy you can in this day.

Tomorrow it gets real. 🤞🏽

For the last year, I’ve researched, planned, tested, questioned, and tried to think through every possible challenge.

Tomorrow, I stop wondering and start learning.

This body is unpredictable. The goal is not.

Here’s to showing up, modifying when I need to, and keeping my eye on the prize of becoming a licensed massage therapist… who specializes in Lomi Lomi.

After 31 years of working for myself from home, stepping into a classroom and someone else’s schedule feels like a giant leap.

I have no idea what tomorrow will bring.

But I’m showing up.

See you on the other side of Day 1.
