Heartbreak
A poem by Gaby Simons
Sometimes, heartbreak masks itself as a million thoughts
And contemplations of action-
Round and round, like a merry go-round
Keeping your from yourself.
But when you slow down,
You feel the ache right in the center,
(It’s beautiful, even, in its sadness)
asking you just to be with it,
breathe with it-
Not try to fix it,
solve it
even Resolve it
It’s like a child who just wants his mommy
to swoop him up and hold him till
his tears run out and his lips curl up
into a smile.
And he can’t help but let out a giggle for just feeling loved
So, too, your heart wants YOU.
Your presence.
Your witnessing.
For however long it takes.
