🔍 Are your 3D microscopy images truly accurate?

Refractive index mismatch between immersion media and samples can cause:
• Z-axis distortion (misplaced structures)
• Image stretching or compression
• Spherical aberration leading to blur and signal loss

In this application note, the Nikon ECLIPSE Ji with AX and NSPARC confocal system demonstrates how these effects impact deep imaging and why matching refractive indices is essential for reliable results.

💊 Lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) are highly heterogeneous, but bulk measurements mask their true complexity.

In collaboration with ScopeSys, we highlight how single-particle analysis can reveal hidden differences in LNP size, structure, and mRNA payload; key factors for therapeutic performance.

📖 In this application note, you’ll discover how to:
• Detect hidden LNP subpopulations (empty vs loaded)
• Quantify mRNA copy number per particle
• Analyze molecular organization with FRET
• Study formulation and buffer effects in real time

Learn how the CLiC platform, combined with Nikon’s ECLIPSE Ti2 microscope and the AX confocal system, enables multiparametric characterization beyond traditional bulk measurements.

🌟 Astrocytes are star-shaped cells in the brain that modulate the function of neurons by regulating their environment. Scientists used to think they were all alike, but new research shows they’re far more varied.

Using multi-photon fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy (MP-FLIM), the Rose group from the University of Düsseldorf found that astrocytes differ in how they handle sodium (Na+), even within different parts of the same cell. These sodium‑handling patterns divide them into functional subgroups, each tuned to the needs of specific brain regions.

🧠 This hidden diversity could influence brain signaling and offer new ways to target neurological disorders where ion balance goes wrong. The work shifts our understanding of glial biology and hints at similar complexity in human brains.
