Thank God for making a world of difference in this sweet girl within just a few days! Just last weekend, she was going into septic shock. This weekend, she’s decorating for her grad party! 💕

Graduation weekend is about to begin! 🎉

Kami’s ANC reached 496 yesterday and was cleared to leave for the weekend! 💕

Yesterday morning, I sat in my office and prayed that God would give her this moment. Cancer has already stolen so much of her senior year, and we couldn’t bear to see it take graduation, too. But God is making it happen! She started feeling better yesterday, and we were constantly refreshing MyChart for her ANC results like we were waiting on winning lottery numbers.

Thank you all so much for lifting our sweet girl up in prayer. We’re continuing to pray that she keeps feeling well so she can fully enjoy every single second of this milestone! 🎓

Please join us in praying that Kami gets to wear her cap and gown this weekend! 🎓🙏🏻

🩺 Yesterday’s labs showed her ANC is at 319 (down just a bit from Monday's 346). Because her ANC measures her immune system, it needs to be at a minimum of 500 before she can safely leave St. Jude without a high risk of infection.

Also, it’s been a tough morning for our sweet girl — she had a round of vomiting, and her feeding tube came out. We are asking for extra prayers for her comfort and peace during replacement.

We need her as strong as possible so she can travel and celebrate a huge milestone ahead! ✨ Please keep praying for positive news on her ANC numbers today. We appreciate you all so much! 🙏🤍

🤍 An Honest Update on Kami:

Hey everyone, we wanted to give you all an honest update on how Kami is doing. This week has thrown some extra hurdles her way, and her body is working incredibly hard right now.

🦠 The Challenges She is Facing:
Because her blood counts are very low from the chemotherapy (pancytopenia), her immune system is compromised, which makes it much harder to fight off infections. She is currently dealing with two major bugs that are not a good combination:

🩸 A Blood Infection (Klebsiella bacteremia): This hit her hard initially, showing early signs of septic shock with some low blood pressure and hypoperfusion, requiring extra IV fluids to stabilize her. The doctors think it may have crossed over from her gut considering the ongoing battle with C. Diff.

🦠 Recurrent C. Diff: Kami has been battling this stubborn stomach infection since March, with a recurrence earlier this month, shortly after prom. She is on a special oral antibiotic taper to keep it managed.

📰 The Latest News & Next Steps:

🎉 The Good News: We actually received a negative blood culture today, which is a huge relief! We are praying hard the culture tomorrow shows the same, negative!

🩹 The Reality: She is on several strong IV antibiotics right now as the Klebsiella bacteria appeared only 11 hours after her last labs so reacting quickly was very crucial. When Kami began showing signs of early septic shock, they threw a very strong combo of antibiotics at the bacteria until it can be more tailored to the exact strain, etc. She will remain on these until we receive a second negative culture.

📋 The Plan: The doctors are watching her closely. If she continues to stay stable, they hope to step down some of her heavy antibiotics tomorrow based on her lab results.

🎓 Looking Forward to Graduation:
Through it all, we are staying so positive and focused on a major milestone—Kami’s high school graduation next weekend! She has worked so hard for this, and we are holding onto the hope and determination that she will be able to participate. While we are aiming for next weekend, blood infections and septic shock are serious and scary. Having her as healthy as possible is, and always will be, our top priority.

🙏 Keeping the Faith:
We are praying so hard for our Kami—for her ANC counts to come up, for these infections to clear completely, and for her to get to celebrate her graduation. Please keep the prayers, good vibes, and love coming. She feels them!💪✨

Kami spotted the St. Jude’s bell the other day! 🔔

When it’s finally her turn, she is going to ring the absolute crap out of it—they might honestly need to bolt it tighter to the wall!

💕 An update on our girl:

🏥 Kami was admitted as an inpatient last night after having a 102.7 fever. Because her ANC (absolute neutrophil count) bottomed out at just 10—down from her previous record low of 272—she is incredibly vulnerable to infection right now. For context, doctors like to see that number well over 1000 (1800 - 7000 is considered normal range), but a major drop is common after chemo.

🩸 To help her fight, she received platelets and a blood transfusion this morning, and she's currently on antibiotics. Between her resting heart rate hitting 145 yesterday and starting radiation this week, her body is battling a lot of intense side effects. But we all know Kami is an absolute fighter!

How you can help:

We are vigorously prepping for her graduation next week and praying she feels well enough to truly enjoy it.

✝️ Please keep the prayers coming for:

✅ The blood transfusion to do its magic and bring her numbers up.

✅ Overall strength and relief from her side effects.

✅ Safe, smooth travel for graduation next week.

Update on our sweet girl:

She’s currently in the OR for her port placement. 💖

We are leaning on faith and praying for a smooth, pain-free surgery. The parental nerves are definitely hitting hard today—thank you all for the love and prayers! 🙏🏻💕

Three months ago tomorrow, we received the news no parent ever wants to hear. Today, we are sharing the news we’ve prayed for: Kami’s bone marrow no longer contains cancerous cells! 🎉

We are so grateful to everyone who has stood by us and prayed for our girl. This journey has been a difficult one, but Kami has remained her true, beautiful self through it all, handling every trial with unbelievable resilience and without a doubt, will continue to do so! She’s the definition of an inspiration and it simply amazes us how strong she really is!

💛 We are staying focused and ready for the next steps:

30 more weeks of chemo and at least 33 treatments of proton radiation. Knowing the treatment is effectively fighting the cancer gives us so much hope!

Side note: Kami technically received her first “tattoo” yesterday in preparation for radiation, just some tiny freckles for radiation markers.

✝️ We are giving all of our thanks to the Lord for the wonderful news we’ve received this week! We’re holding onto this momentum and continuing to pray that her Week 24 scans show even more progress and healing!

Thank you for your continued prayers and for loving our girl through this fight! 💛 🎗️🩷

We just got the results back from the MRI of Kami’s spine/pelvis and it has the words “decreased significantly, disappeared and barely visible”!

✅ The lesion that was pushing into her T7-T8 nerve opening is GONE!

✅ The large lesions at T8 & L3 have decreased significantly.

✅ Most of the spots in her hip/pelvis have disappeared or are barely visible.

✳️ The large tumor from S2-S4 is noted as stable. In the oncology world, this is a good thing as it’s not growing and/or spreading. On 02/25 it measured 4.2cm x 1.7cm x 3.4cm. It’s now measured at 4.1cm x 1.8cm x 3.5cm. However, she will began proton therapy (radiation) next week which we pray dissolves it entirely!

✅ No Leptomeningeal Disease: This means the cancer has not spread into the fluid or lining surrounding the brain and spinal cord. 🙏🏻

✅ No New Metastases: No new tumors have formed since the last scan.

✅ Pairing these with the results from her chest MRI, this is all incredible news!

⁉️ The biggest question we’ve had is if her treatment can be reduced if all of the cancer disappears. Due to the aggressiveness of Rhabdomyosarcoma, she will need to fulfill the 42 weeks of chemotherapy regardless to prevent reoccurrence. She’s currently scheduled for 33 proton radiation treatments beginning next week as well.

💛 The treatment is doing its job! Thank you for all the prayers and good vibes—they are working! Chemo is absolutely brutal. Please continue to pray for Kami’s strength! She’s winning this fight! 🎗️💪
