Covered by Grace: Emma’s Journey In December 2025 Emma Grace was diagnosed with craniopharyngioma, a rare brain tumor on her pituitary gland that affects multiple health areas.

We are grateful for every message of love and support as we share updates and prayer requests for our family.

Week 5 done! Granny has been so helpful living with us at St. Jude, we are indescribably grateful for her! 🩷 She is heading home now that Nathan and Julianna are here, but we couldn’t send her off without the shout-out she deserves!!

Emma Grace seems to be over her cold, praise the Lord! Caleb’s still working through it but getting better each day ❤️‍🩹

We are planning to finish treatment next week and transition home with follow up care at SJ every 6-12 weeks for the next couple of years 🙌🏻

Thank God treatment has stayed on schedule so far and Emma has handled everything really well. Thank you all for praying and checking in on us throughout the treatment process, we are incredibly blessed and supported by our community 💕

This is so cool, patients can have MRIs as surgery is happening! We are so grateful for the incredible Neurosurgery team and amazing medical advancements at Le Bonheur. Emma Grace had both her brain surgeries there and we believe Dr. Klimo and the equipment available made a significant difference in the positive outcomes we’re seeing today ♥️

Week 4 done! So grateful for sweet friends coming all the way from Phoenix to visit us and celebrate being over halfway through treatment! 💕

Emma Grace is doing great, her weekly MRIs have all looked good and overall she’s happy and playful
Caleb had a fever on Friday and is still not quite to back to normal, we think it may be from teething and are still praying he feels better and everyone else stays healthy

Thank you all for the prayers and encouragements, we are so blessed by all the support!

Week 3 done! Emma Grace is still doing great 🙌🏻
She has finished 13/30 of her proton radiation treatments. She gets an MRI every week to measure her tumor and adjust things if needed, but so far everything has been stable! Praise the Lord!
PT & OT have been helping with her right side weakness and she is getting stronger every day💪🏻
We are so excited for her to start St. Jude’s preschool program next week and grateful she gets to join the toddler class while she’s here!

Week 2 done! Emma Grace is doing great and we loved Dad and Julianna coming to visit for the weekend 🩷

We’re about 30% through treatment and settling into a good routine. Praise the Lord for stability so far, continuing to pray for Emma’s safety and healing as we progress.

Thank you for all the encouragements, we are so grateful for every prayer and text along the way!

Week 1 Done! Emma Grace is doing great, we are staying busy with appointments and figuring out life living on campus at St. Jude’s. Praise the Lord she hasn’t had any vomiting this week and seems to be tolerating her meds and treatment well. Her most recent MRI showed continued healing from surgery and tumor stability! She and Caleb are both sleeping well (Mom and Granny are still adjusting).

Dad and Julie are holding down the Fort and settling into their own rhythm of school and work. We are excited for them to visit next weekend!

Thank you for continuing to pray with us that the proton therapy is fully effective, that each treatment is safe and accurate, and for the Lord to heal her brain and body through the doctors and research here at St. Jude’s.

6 more weeks to go!

So grateful for a weekend in Nashville with family ❤️ we moved into our long-term housing today and Emma Grace has her first radiation treatment tomorrow morning. We are praying the radiation is fully effective at killing all tumor cells with no permanent damage or new side effects. It is so encouraging to hear from so many people thinking and praying for us all over! Grateful we are not alone in this, and through it all Jesus is near ✝️

We made it back to St. Jude’s! It was a quick turn around after getting discharged from Cook Children’s Hospital, but we were able to spend the weekend at home together. Abby’s sister (Aunt Nana) flew in and helped on the drive up to Tennessee. We have preparation appointments this week and should still be able to start the radiation treatment next week. We are praying Emma Grace fully recovers from her sickness and that she has a stretch of good health.

Praise the Lord for a safe drive this morning, lots of travel logistics that worked out well, and normal labs this afternoon!

Back in the hospital for some kind of stomach bug.
Emma Grace had a great weekend at home but started throwing up Monday. Our local ER (Cook Children’s) did a CT to rule out a neuro/surgery issue. She was admitted and we are monitoring things closely as she recovers. Because of the tumor, Emma has secondary adrenal insufficiency (SAI) and hypothyroidism. She takes hormone replacements 4x a day and has to get those meds through an IV if she can’t keep things down. We are praying she is able to tolerate oral meds and wisdom for us and her drs as we try to give her the best care.

We are so grateful to be home this week! 🩷🏡
Emma Grace has radiation prep appointments beginning September 1st. She will have 30 Proton Therapy treatments, scheduled to begin September 9th, over 6 weeks, Monday through Friday. Because she has to remain completely still during each treatment, she will need daily anesthesia.

Abby, Karen (Granny), Emma & Caleb will live in St. Jude housing during the treatment. Nathan and Julie will stay in Fort Worth for work and school, but are planning to visit!

Patients can only receive radiation once, so we are praying that this treatment completely kills all tumor cells. It can take 1–3 years for the full effects of Proton Therapy to be seen, so we are also praying that her tumor remains stable while the treatment does its work.

We are so grateful for the experts at St. Jude’s and everyone who continues to pray for Emma Grace and walk alongside our family through this journey!
