I often have people ask me if they can "pick my brain" or if I can teach them a specific thing. I know, right now especially, this is because things are tight and people need more income. However, it denigrates my work as a spirit worker. I cannot distill years of training and personal experience or the complexity of the work I do into, say, a 90-minute class and then expect it to be useful, correct or ethically sound. As my guides have told me, my energetic signature is attached to the work of my students so shoddy or unethical work reflects on me as a teacher and as a person who walks unseen realms. Likewise, with my own teachers and students. And other people who teach and do this work.
How is spirit work incredibly complicated? Today I did ancestral work for a client. This included moving multiple sets of people to the ancestral realms after mitigating the reasons why they were stuck here. This included curse removal, entity removal, land clearing and reversing a contract with evil forces. I also had to clear the client. I used my psychopomp, curse breaking, negotiating, land clearing skills, and more, along with those of my spirit helpers. It wasn't easy or pleasant, though it's extremely gratifying work. After the session I had to clear myself. Total work time: 3+ hours.
Yesterday's client was similar but not as involved or as horrific.
My point is that this work is extremely complex and nuanced. It takes a lot of skill that's built over years of work. It takes a cool head and, often, a strong stomach (I see some absolutely horrific things). It's also embedded in a cosmology, a whole way of looking at both the mundane world and the Otherworlds. This is why I run months-long programs and not short classes and why I can't just teach someone one thing.
