Father’s Day is not one-size-fits-all emotionally. For some people it feels joyful. For others, it can bring up stress, grief, complicated relationships, or reminders of what they wish they had. Whatever this day brings up for you, you are allowed to feel it honestly. Support is here if you need a place to process it.

Juneteenth can bring up a lot at once. Pride. Joy. Exhaustion. Grief. Relief. Anger. Connection. Emotional heaviness. For many Black Americans, mental health conversations cannot be separated from lived experiences with racism, generational trauma, pressure to stay strong, or constantly navigating unsafe spaces. And still, there is resilience, care, culture, community, and joy woven through it too. Checking in with yourself is not selfish. Rest is not something you have to earn. Support does not have to wait until things completely fall apart. If this season feels emotionally heavy, you do not have to carry everything alone.

Meet our newest therapist Cassidy Shaffer!

Cassidy is a compassionate therapist who believes healing starts with genuine connection. She meets clients where they are, helping them navigate life’s challenges while staying aligned with what matters most to them.

Using trauma-informed, evidence-based approaches including DBT, ACT, EFT, and IFS-informed techniques, Cassidy supports individuals and couples working through anxiety, grief, trauma, relationship challenges, and life transitions. Work stress weighing you down? You’re not alone. This post is packed with practical tips to help you manage the daily grind: quick mindfulness exercises, boundary-setting strategies, and ways to decompress after a tough day.

But here’s the thing: while these tips can offer relief, they don’t always get to the root of the stress. If you find yourself constantly feeling overwhelmed, irritable, or checked out, it might be time to dig deeper. 💬 Talking with a therapist can help you unpack what’s fueling your stress and build tools to navigate it long-term.

Cassidy is a dedicated therapist whose approach is grounded in genuine connection and authenticity. Her therapeutic style starts with meeting each person where they are. Whether you are working on something you have been carrying for a while or navigating something new; her philosophy is supported by assisting you in aligning your life with what you value.

Cassidy draws from evidenced based approaches and practices through a trauma-informed lense including DBT, ACT, EFT and elements of IFS. These techniques support understanding the parts of us that deserve healing as well as developing skills to promote a life with relationships that are meaningful and fulfilling. She has experience working with individuals and couples who are undergoing challenges navigating healthy relationships, anxiety, grief, trauma or just needing more support to feel like themselves again.

Outside of the therapy room you’ll find her enjoying the outdoors, working in the garden, fishing, reading a good book or spending time with her family.

Summer schedule changes can hit harder than people expect. A lot of parents are trying to manage work, childcare, routines disappearing overnight, and the pressure to make summer “fun” while already running on empty. If you’re feeling more irritable, overstimulated, or emotionally tapped out lately, you’re not failing. You’re carrying a lot. Therapy can be a space where you don’t have to keep holding everything together for everyone else.

June can feel strange for teachers. Everyone talks about summer break like exhaustion should instantly disappear the second school ends. But burnout does not always turn off that fast. A lot of teachers are ending this school year mentally overloaded, emotionally drained, and still carrying stress home with them. If that’s you, support is allowed to exist outside the classroom too.

Happy June!

This month, our lobby recognizes both Pride Month and Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month. We believe that everyone deserves access to compassionate mental health care, and we are proud to support and celebrate the diverse individuals and families we serve.

We stand with our LGBTQ+ clients and community members, and we also want to highlight the importance of men’s mental health. Mental health matters for everyone, and seeking support is a sign of strength.

Our goal is to create a space where all patients feel welcomed, respected, safe, and valued. We hope you have a wonderful June! 🌈 💙

For our younger visitors: We’ve hidden 15 fun summer-themed items throughout the lobby for kids to discover while they wait for their session. Have fun searching for them all! ☀️🌴🔍
