Couldn’t join us for our Health Care Costs & Retirement Lunch & Learn? We’re bringing the conversation to you.

CHIN recently welcomed DeVon A. Pruitt, CFP® CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER®, for an important discussion about a part of retirement planning that families sometimes underestimate: the cost of healthcare as we age.

During the Lunch & Learn, Pruitt discussed Medicare, future healthcare expenses, long-term care, and the financial questions families should consider before a health crisis or caregiving need makes those decisions urgent.

One of the most important takeaways? Retirement planning isn’t only about having enough income. It’s also about preparing for the care you may need and understanding what Medicare does and does not cover.

Whether you’re approaching retirement, already retired, caring for an aging parent, or planning wisely for the future, we invite you to watch the video and share it with someone who could benefit.

CHIN’s Lunch & Learn series makes practical health and wellness information accessible to our community—and helps families ask important questions today that may give them more choices tomorrow.

Watch the Lunch & Learn below, and feel free to share!

When it comes to retirement, do you know what your healthcare may actually cost?

Many of us spend years thinking about retirement—but healthcare expenses can be one of the most important pieces of the plan.

What does Medicare cover? What might you have to pay for yourself? What happens if you or someone you love eventually needs long-term care? And if your preference is to remain at home as you age, how can you begin preparing for that possibility?

These are important conversations to have before the answers are urgently needed.

Join the Community Health Improvement Network (CHIN) for our upcoming Health Care Costs & Retirement Lunch & Learn, featuring:

DeVon A. Pruitt, CFP® CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER®

Come prepared to learn, ask questions, and gain information that can help you and your family think more intentionally about healthcare costs, Medicare coverage, long-term care, and planning for the years ahead.

What will healthcare cost during retirement—and are you prepared for it?

For many families, planning for retirement involves much more than deciding when to stop working. There are also important questions about Medicare, healthcare expenses, long-term care, aging at home, and how to prepare financially for the care our loved ones or we may need.

CHIN invites you to join us for our upcoming Health Care Costs & Retirement Lunch & Learn, featuring:

DeVon A. Pruitt, CFP® CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER®

This informative community conversation will help attendees better understand the financial and healthcare considerations that accompany aging and retirement.

We'll talk about Medicare coverage, healthcare costs, long-term care options, planning for care at home, and steps families can take now to prepare for the future. Caring for Our Loved Ones Starts with Access

As our loved ones age, one of the most important questions families face is:

"How do we find quality care that's also affordable?"

Navigating senior care options can feel overwhelming. From assisted living and long-term care to caregiver support services and community resources, understanding what's available—and how to access it—can make all the difference for older adults and the families who love them.

At Community Health Improvement Network (CHIN), we believe every family deserves access to reliable information to
make informed decisions about the health, safety, and well-being of their loved ones.

That's why CHIN is committed to bringing our community together through educational programs, trusted partnerships, and conversations that connect people with the resources they need.

Stay tuned for information about our upcoming Lunch & Learn, where we'll explore affordable senior care options, available community resources, and practical guidance to help families navigate this important stage of life.

Together, we can build a community where every older adult has the opportunity to age with dignity, support, and access to quality care.

Visit www.tmi.ms to learn more about CHIN and stay informed about upcoming Lunch & Learns, community health initiatives, and educational events.

Real-world experience changes everything. Internships are not just about helping students build resumes—they are a vital investment in our local economy, injecting fresh perspectives into area businesses while shaping the next generation of leadership. Today marks a proud milestone for our community.

The Millsaps Summer Intern Program held its Closing Ceremony at The MAX - The Mississippi Arts + Entertainment Experience, celebrating 12 remarkable interns who spent their summer working across Meridian. This impactful summer was made possible by a generous grant from the Phil Hardin Foundation. Lloyd Gray, CEO of the Phil Hardin Foundation, attended the ceremony and expressed pride upon hearing the students' final reports, noting the incredible personal development and growth each intern experienced during their time in Meridian.

Here at The Montgomery Institute, we were incredibly fortunate to have Anaya Lewis serve as our Summer Intern this year. Her hard work, dedication, and insights have been invaluable to our team and our mission. For the past seven years, the Millsaps Summer Internship program has been a cornerstone of professional development in Meridian.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who makes this program possible year after year, ensuring our community remains a place where young talent can thrive. Join us in celebrating Anaya and the entire 2026 cohort!
